Wish I'd taken the time to figure out @oskarstalberg.bsky.social's dual grid concept earlier. It simplifies everything so much while also enabling nicer tile shapes.

In short: instead of designing tiles, design the boundary slices between them.

I just learned that John Carmack misgendered and deadnamed Rebecca Heineman in his "tribute" over on Twitter. He probably thinks it's okay when talking pre-transition days, but FYI, most trans people hate that. Worse, he never calls her "she," switching to "they" for recent memories. Fuck that guy.

Today in attempting to date men as a trans man 😩 this was his first question.

Additionally, hippos - despite being massive - have almost no fat on them. All of that impressive bulk is muscle.

2% body fat. Compare that to Elephants, which are around 8-10%, or rhinos, which are 10-20%.

The average human is around 20-40%, for reference.

They're *all* muscle.

The only big shame was that I was not well until the last and that's when I was presenting! So I missed most of it 😩

The UK is considering a policy that would effectively segregate trans people from society. It would bar trans people from "single sex spaces" even when they use the facility of their sex assigned at birth.

This is a full on policy of segregation without even the benefit of separate facilities.

I've been on the job hunt again since my contract ends and getting anyone to even get near my previous salary ($180-190k) immediately disqualifies me. I'm looking at a 50% paycut right now. It's brutal.

...asking for a rate that high is only achievable by a handful of well-funded companies in high cost of living cities. Riot, Sony studios, some smaller VC funded studios that got money before this whole thing collapsed.

This is not accurate. I've been earning north of $180k since 2020 (but no more than $190k) and I've DEFINITELY an anomaly within my friend group who are mostly visual artists, producers and QA. Having been on the job hunt early this year and now again...

Also these people are on their way out of an industry that's already struggling. The grift can only go on so long.

I love seeing how an artists art changes over time. It'd be more concerned if it didn't it means you have stopped trying new things!

Was lucky enough to have early access to Carved in Stone, it's absolutely gorgeous. Even better, its transparent about archaeology as an interpretive practise and the choices that went into the creation of the setting guide
