A poster advertising the original 1960s 'The Haunting'. The tagline reads: 'You may not believe in ghosts but you cannot deny terror.'

And finally (from me). 'Nuff said, as Stan Lee used to say.

Sorry, I've just seen all your hashtags and realised you didn't didn't need me to tell you all that. Still, an excellent choice of movie though. I must revisit it myself. Anything with Peter Wyngarde in it's worth watching, anyway.

We ended up at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, very old and very haunted. I was going to include more locations but we were stuck there for hours due to rain so had to curtail our tour. I got a pic of the cursed galeon though.

Photograph of a cassette tape called 'Ghost Busters and other themes with an illustration of three ghosts. Above someone has written the text 'To whom might you dial?' humourously mocking the fact that the ghost in the middle looks posh and distinguished rather than scary.

Near Alfhausen, the ghost of an evil publican can be challenged to a race.

He manifests as a hot rod.

Good, underappreciated film. The British title was rubbish: 'Night Of The Eagle' (maybe to tie in with 'Night Of The Demon'). It was based on Fritz Leiber's 'Conjure Wife', my Pan copy of which I happened to post recently. Confusing, because 'Burn, Witch, Burn' was the title of an A E Merritt novel.

The "Lordly Dog"

For blaspheming against the sacraments with his dog, the mind of a noble in Breinermoor was reduced to that of a dog. And even after death, he haunts the region in canine shape.

1/2 The Spider and the Ghost of the Fly:
Once I loved a spider
When I was born a fly,
A velvet-footed spider
With a gown of rainbow-dye.
She ate my wings and gloated.
She bound me with a hair.

No, I think I looked once. I bet there was an article on him in the much missed Book & Magazine Collector - mind you, he'd probably published half a dozen more by the time the article appeared. I have an anthology by Richard Dalby presented to Hugh Lamb and signed by both. Two more greats!

An etching depicting a theatre stage, under which a man is holding a light that brightly illuminates a woman dressed in a white gown. In the front part of the stage there is a large glass screen. The audience doesn't see the glass but the ghostly apparition of the woman reflected on the glass, as she seems to be confronting the actor on the stage behind the glass on the stage.

Front and back wraparound book cover artwork. It shows a bleak scene with bare trees. In the distance are two spooky ruins, one surrounded by a green glow and the other glowing red. To the left a witches cauldron bubbles over a fire. On the right a large tree is bedecked with jack-o'-lanterns. An owl also sits in the tree. On the ground are three witches hats and three brooms, and a pentagram has been drawn in the earth.

'Hallowe'en Hauntings', edited by Peter Haining (1984), art by Ionicus (not a book in my collection sadly).

These William Kimber publications with their Ionicus wrap-around covers are just gorgeous and getting harder and harder to find. I picked up a few about a tenner apiece not that many years ago (not this one). No hope now. How many books has Peter Haining done? I must try and find out but it's lots!

This is one is strictly ghosts and hauntings but no other themes. WyrdWednesday and FolkyFriday are themed. I've found FolkloreThursday hit and miss and FolkloreSunday was defunct last time I checked it. I haven't checked on LegendaryWednesday for a while.
