Autoimmune diseases linked to cancers of the digestive tract In a comprehensive study, researchers from the Department of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Augsburg have provided reliable evidence for a link between chronic inflammatory diseases and the development of tumors in the digestive tract.

Analysis of over 1.5 million patient records indicates that certain autoimmune diseases, such as celiac disease and type 1 diabetes, are linked to increased risk of digestive tract cancers. doi.org/g9wt2n
