🏘 What a fantastic day at Cloch Housing Association's Gala Day today.

🪄 There were magic tricks, inflatables, snacks & some animals, including a tortoise! 🐢

👏 Huge well done to all the team at Cloch for putting on this fun day for their tenants and the wider local community.

🛥 This morning I met Graeme from James Watt Dock Marina to discuss a range of topics.

🤝 I was pleased to hear the business is doing well, with more growth expected, and work will continue to redevelop the site.

🌊 #MarineTourism is hugely important to our economy, thanks to local marinas like JWD.

🤝 Great visit today to Gourock Bunny Park to learn more about how Home-Start Renfrewshire & Inverclyde have benefitted from Warm Hands of Friendship funding.

🛝 It was lovely to see families engaging with the support that HS offers, with children enjoying snacks & the facilities at the park.

🏥 New investment into frontline NHS frailty services will include expanding the Hospital at Home programme - which saved the NHS at least £55m last year.

📰 Here's my column from today's Greenock Telegraph on the Israeli Gov's starvation of the people of #Gaza, which is a war crime.

There will come a day when everyone will say they were always against this - but unlike in the past, no one can deny they didn't know what was happening.

❗️ The Scottish Government's Victim Surcharge Fund is open until 4 August 2025. Orgs supporting victims of crime can request an application form by emailing VictimSurchargefund@gov.scot.

🤝 The Fund, financed through penalties imposed on offenders, can be used for essentials such as food & clothing.

💬 Steve Reed MP on @channel4news.bsky.social last night said "pollution levels in Scotland are worse than they are in England" yet 66% of Scotland's water bodies are of good ecological status compared w/ 16.1% in England & 29.9% in Wales.

💧 So despite what Labour say, our water is better & cheaper.

📰 Here's my column from yesterday's Greenock Telegraph covering the UK Gov's plans to lower the voting age to 16 - following @snp.org lead as we took this decision over a decade go - and a report from The King's Trust outlining what England can learn from Scotland's approach to public health.

Agreed Adam - this report demonstrates that. We discussed how too often it's assumed that people's uncertainty about digital banking and financial matters would 'age out', but the findings show that even those who're considered to be most confident online aren't confident when it comes to £.

🪙In June, I hosted Virgin Money in @parliament.scot to highlight their work tackling the barriers to financial & digital inclusion in Scotland.

🗣We discussed how banks must work together on these issues & that Gen-Z's online literacy doesn't = money confident in an increasingly digital banking era.

📑 New figures show by 2029/30, 750,000 new disabled & UC health claimants will be £2970 POORER due to Labour’s choice to hit some of the most vulnerable folk in society.

🥀 Of the 37 Scottish Labour MPs, only 5 voted against.

🎟 Last week, I attended Families In The Know Inverclyde's fundraiser to provide quiet play days for local neurodivergent children.

🛝 It was great to visit Xcite in Greenock to see this initiative in action. This will take place for the next 3 weeks, Thurs 10am-1pm, & is open to children with ASN.

📈 Great to meet Alan during my visit to Bookers in Greenock yesterday, who explained that the business has seen strong overall sales growth due to rising demand from the local hospitality sector.

🍽 Staff noted the resilience of hospitality demand across Inverclyde, despite wider economic pressures.

🐬 What a great morning enjoying a boat trip with Clyde Charters to see what their tours have to offer - and it was made even better with some dolphins popping up to say hello!

🚤 Inverclyde has lots to offer when it comes to marine tourism, plus more proof that the ☀️ shines in Inverclyde!

📰 Here's my column from today's Greenock Telegraph covering the end of the school year; the beginning of summer recess, and the UK Labour Government's shameful decision to plough ahead with welfare cuts which their own analysis shows will push more people into poverty.

💷 The @snp.org Scottish Government is investing £515k into Bank Street Community Hub to help ensure the final stages of the project can be delivered.

👏 I've long supported regeneration efforts like this & am delighted the SG is backing Inverclyde with real investment that will benefit our economy.

🎶 It was a huge honour to pipe at the official opening, and it was great to have the DFM in attendance.

👏 After many years of engagement, long before shovels were in the ground, it was fantastic to see the culmination of hard work & dreams come together to deliver this project.
