Hey aspiring indie devs, here is an example of a strong hook.

Skate story: they wanted to make a skateboard game but can't take on EA on it. They went for an "extremely different" visual style + epic fantasy quest to stand out.
That's how you fight when small.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

Not indie at all, but I have been surprised recently by the level of writing in relationships and lore from the God of War nordic saga (I never liked the greek ones)

Spoiler : the physics friction of a guard's feet (?!) is evaluated differently on modern instruction sets (floating-point precision shenanigans), causing the guard to NOT move out of the way of the opening door. With the SAME source code.
