I think these are all highly logical assumptions. Also? Either grain matching or scrubbing. You canβt scan film grain to add it, the resolution would be too low, but traditional DNR would leave artifacts on a screen that huge. If AI didnβt work, it would be a massive clean-up job.
05.08.2025 17:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt know if it was pure - it sounds like they had a sizable team from the start that just got bigger as AI failed at every step of the way.

05.08.2025 16:18 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Iβd prefer them to just show the movie too, though itβs also true that at 16k+ resolution, even IMAX would look soft. Honestly, projects there would be better off doing stuff from scratch at the native resolution because βreimaginingβ material or trying to make it fit dissatisfies everyone.
05.08.2025 15:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So itβs like when they made a TV series out of Casablanca in the 70s
05.08.2025 15:21 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Because humans make stupid mistakes all the time, especially when the project is poorly planned from the get-go and theyβre barely holding everything together with technical specifications that have never been required before
05.08.2025 15:20 β π 24 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasnβt entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.
If true, then fucking yikes.

I don't see anything wrong with a strategically stupid announcement that tacitly increases the likelihood of an accidental nuclear war. I mean, come on.
01.08.2025 18:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The main Coverfly didn't do anything for me. But the Coverfly X peer-review subsection - if you could get your review scores high enough to attract higher-quality peer reads - was surprisingly useful for feedback. I'm not devoid of feedback options, but still, I will miss that something awful.
01.08.2025 18:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I read (and reread) Annie Jacobsen's Nuclear War last year, and all going through my mind at this moment is how ridiculously easy it is for a nuclear war to start.
01.08.2025 18:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Omigod, you did that too? I had a portable little TV/cassette deck and I would create little "feature presentations," sometimes recording whole movies, sometimes radio songs and stand-up bits. I never did that with ANH (although I incessantly played The Story of Star Wars w/Roscoe Lee Browne).
01.08.2025 18:01 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's where I'm at, too. Also, I think the most important thing is for an artist to be as happy with their own work as possible. And I get the pull of nostalgia and disliking changes, but the people basically calling Lucas the devil for changing the thing with his name on it is nauseating to me.

01.08.2025 14:43 β π 19423 π 7296 π¬ 1361 π 595Yeah, a redundant world works best. Too much can go wrong in either direction - paper can go up in a fire, data can be hacked. I scan every photo precious to me - too many people lose those - but I also treasure having the original because it has meaning as the actual physical object.

I donβt trust the racists in the Senate to do that for, say, an unjustly convicted black person. Iβd rather have the mechanism to roll the dice with the compassion of one person. There are too many innocent ppl in prison.
BUT there should be some sort of external conflict of interest mechanism.
I feel like something changed for them a few years ago. I remember when they did an animated montage of the life-deadening experience of working in an Amazon warehouse to the anti-capitalist song "16 Tons" and it was, like, 100 percent sincere. It was a shock.
