I'd say the Tencent adaptation was a lesson in "be careful what you wish for" with strict adaptations. Hardcore 3BP fans might enjoy it, but it would absolutely bore the tears out of a general audience who isn't already invested. Sometimes brevity is a virtue. That said, still worth watching!

Tencent was beat for beat and then some. I do think it improved on the characters though - Wang Miao / Da Shi felt like a real bromance, there was some interesting off page stuff filled in with ETO, etc.
