Sixteen years before this action, my newlywed mom was student teaching in Yelm, WA, to finish her state teaching certificate. She related that the principal fired her because "We can't have a pregnant home economics teacher." Oh, the rich irony of 1962. I was born just a few months later.

This came 16 years after my mom was fired from her job as home economics student teacher in Yelm, WA. "We can't let students see a pregnant teacher," the principal told her as he showed her the door. I arrived a few months later.

That feels like it's a blatantly illegal violation of civil service laws. Maybe it's just me.
