I’ve been saying this for ages: These folks are doomed to be permanently angry because they’re angry about aspects of the culture that policy ultimately can’t change. They’re seeking political power as a consolation prize for lack of cultural power, and will always be dissatisfied.

In some moments, I am tied to the idea that transition is about making me love myself more. But as I've progressed, I've realized the true point of it is to allow you to relax enough to love others more effectively.

My favorite thing about creating and owning characters is that I can just be needlessly cruel to them for no reason and nobody's allowed to get mad at me.

rough out there for queer folks. even rougher if you're looking for queer disability rep (or disability rep in general, certainly). good news is: over half of the 489 queer chars were poc, which is GREAT, and (not to say it's all necessarily GOOD rep, but) better than ever before in my lifetime!

This is where the strengths of indie comics can shine. We don’t need permission to make our stories however we want. The creative pipeline isn’t weaved to have the dirty, wrinkled by hate, hands of some rich assholes at the nozzle. So while the next wave of tv bombs, make aggressively woke comics.

Don't put down your own work. Plenty of people want to devalue you and the things you Make. Don't help them do it.

Some advice from a couple of years ago that I still think most creative people need to hear --

Stack of blocks labeled, all modern digital infrastructure. A ratchet tipping over the entire stack is labeled AI. A load bearing pillar is labeled unpaid open source development. Another label is AWS, and Cloudflare and Unpaid Open Source Developers.
