I’m not seeing a double knuckle. We’re talking about what would be the index finger in my draw over, right? When I put my own hand in that position, the outline matches my red outline.

Do you want to do a draw-over too, to show what you’re seeing?

So like, all the trafficking we’re hearing about in the Epstein docs, that’s still happening. Y’all know that, right? Why do you think all these mega rich people need superyachts to go hang out in international waters? I can think of very few reasons one would need such a thing. None good.

I disagree. I do not think that line was meant to denote another finger. I think that several layers got rendered in black ink, which caused a loss of detail and some muddling of features. It happens all the time in my own art when I work digitally too.

I used to make this mistake too. Doing it doesn’t mean you’re a bad artist; it’s a common mistake that lots of people make. Often, people will learn to do it by copying another artist who does it, instead of looking at photo or real life reference.

Personal pet peeve in art:

When people draw just one eye, including highlights, and then mirror it over to make the other eye. I see it in fursuits and drawings a lot. Eyes aren’t mirrored, they’re the same. The shine is on the same side on both eyes. Go look at some photo reference!

Maybe they don’t need to. Spacetime could be warped around the matter of the alien or vessel, so that nothing would collide with them at all. We don’t know what we don’t know, y’know?

Idk, I’m not willing to count out the possibility that we just aren’t capable of understanding how to do it. Any alien beings capable enough to traverse star systems would probably know better than to make contact with us bugs. I want to be optimistic about aliens.

I think that darker line on the pinky side of the hand is an example of how shading and line art can get mixed up when working digitally. I’ve had similar things pop up in my own work, because initially the layers are different colors, and then they all get printed/rendered in black.

A draw-over of the hand that is being called into question as possibly AI. The red outline shows four fingers and one mostly-hidden thumb. The blue illustrates what part of the hand is in shadow. Yellow lines demonstrate where the tops of the hand bones are under the skin. In the original image, these were all black, making it difficult to understand what line meant what. This is a common problem in digital art when working with layers.

I actually had trouble seeing what you describe here. I did a draw-over with some block colors to describe how the hand looks to me. The red is the outline of the hand, the yellow lines denote high points where bones or knuckles are, and the blue is in shadow. The fingers are probably curled.

I appreciate you sticking up for the artist like this. While I completely understand and agree with the dislike of AI, we can’t let that cause us to harm actual artists. This really highlights the importance of doing research before drawing conclusions. Thank you for doing that work for all of us.

You’re an educated and thoughtful person. I’m curious what you think we, the regular citizens of the US, can/should be doing to get out of this mess. It feels too urgent to wait for voting cycles, but many of us are unsure what to do right away. I would like to amplify good ideas.

But I’m happy to hang out with people who disagree. Some of the folks I spend the most time with in this community love TNG the most, and I love that for them. I just don’t need everything to be like TNG, and would actually prefer it cover new ground.

I hear this complaint a lot, and I think it’s because so many people came into the Trek fandom through TNG. It has a special nostalgic place in their hearts, and everything gets held up to it in comparison. Personally, I rank TNG mid-low overall, and I like seeing Trek try different things.

Don’t they need 60 votes for this? Unless they decide to get rid of the filibuster? If so, this article is incorrect about where the threshold is for passing, and whether Vance can break the tie.

Though I expect furries will like it, and I welcome them, I’m looking at a slightly different audience. More film/tv/streaming/fashion, less costume/fursuit/fandom.

19.02.2026 09:24 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s very niche. Combining sculpture, robotics, costuming, and high fashion. I have a couple different target audiences in mind. It’s a sort of wearable art. Something for runway models or stage performances. Sort of tangentially related to fursuits and prosthetics, but not intended for furries.

19.02.2026 09:21 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

I just need to make one myself first, I think. It’s the kind of thing where only someone with my specific skill set could produce a high quality result. But someone else could totally make a shittier version much faster. Like those Spirit Halloween fursuit heads.

I hate having a good idea and being afraid to mention it because I don’t want the capitalist machine to take it and destroy it.

I’ve been listening to and loving @chasingabbey.bsky.social lately. They’ve got a great AltRock meets EDM meets Irish Trad vibe. I haven’t disliked a song of theirs yet. It’s worth looking up translations of their lyrics to get the full message too, if you don’t understand it already.

I agree with you, that’s exciting.

I disagree with this article. As an artist and biologist, married to a computer scientist, I have put a lot of thought into my opinions about AI. I’m not refusing to engage with it, I’m choosing not to support GenAI because it does tangible harm.

It was so hot, and so perfect. He really nailed the character. He also took a break partway through, sat backwards on the chair, and lip synced to a bunch of Frakes Beyond Belief quotes. Then resumed stripping.

The masc Vulcan who closed the show was named Gene Rod n’ Berries

When I say that the femme Vulcan was on first, I mean first of the three acts I listed. There were other fantastic acts before her and in between the others. I realized that was unclear.

Other highlights included a cute redshirt being beat to death by a hot Gorn, and someone getting a little too frisky with the tribbles. It was hosted by an Andorian and a Captain Pike.

I am very tempted to try Ferengi burlesque myself now. I’ve got the lobes for it.

I went to a Star Trek burlesque show last night, and I’m still thinking about the Vulcans and Riker. The femme Vulcan was on first, and did a pon farr themed strip, which was incredible. Riker stripped with a chair. Then they closed with a masc Vulcan, and the flower from Naked Time. Incredible.

See also, this hard as hell quote from Mewtwo in Pokemon the First Movie:

β€œ'I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.”

17.02.2026 00:20 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I found the quote:

β€œIf just one Pokemon could help the world, it would be worth the journey for thousands of them any day. But this day, the one who can make all the difference is you.”

That’s just some good wisdom when you realize it’s about people, not Pokemon.
