GEO was sued in 2017 for using the labor of immigrant detainees and paying them prison wages, $1 a day. A judge ruled that since the immigrants were not convicted, not prisoners, that GEO had to pay them minimum wage. GEO ended the work program and continues to refuse to pay.

The name of the game is bodies in beds for bucks.

Private prisons are also paying cops and judges, DA's, prosecutors and politicians that invest in them. As you said, it's about money...not justice, not protecting the populace, not about humanitarianism, or what's right.

Why are so many undocumented immigrants being held in detention for so long instead of being deported?
Simple. The billionaires who own the detention centers get paid for keeping people here. They don't get paid for people who get deported.
It's not about the law, it's about taking your money.
