just got back from the renaissance faire! my #sotd was mandragore by goutal— a lovely, bracing herbal cloud of strange bedfellows (bergamot and black pepper, mint and ginger, anise and orris).

thank you again for the amazing rec! it’s definitely one of my favorites.

i got a 9ml from scent split and am really excited to see how it smells in cooler weather. i love a boozy frag but acknowledge that i don’t want to smell like booze in certain environments.

i suppose I should have tagged this #perfumesky !

dandelion butter by clue perfumerie. the green spice of crushed grass and greasy yellow dandelion stains on your jeans and fingers. after a few hours, vaguely creamy yellow florals, but that’s the extent of the butter for me.

shells by régime des fleurs. salty, slightly pruned fruits and driftwood. a summer on the north fork. i’m going to be hunting for a bottle of this for the rest of my days.

van py rhum by lorenzo pazzaglia. regrettable for my wallet. opens as a five finger pour of shockingly expensive vanilla rum with a patchouli garnish. dries down to divine caramelized oud and sticky black bourbon vanilla bean paste. a vanilla’s vanilla.

where the wild things grows ii by sorce. little green strawberries muddled in melon soda. fizzy, fresh, and sweet.

witchery by sorce. tripping into a mostly-scavenged blackberry patch. trenchantly green with a blackberry juice flirtation. a little too screechy green stem for my tastes.

blanche bete by liquides imaginaires. to my hipster chagrin I liked this. cool vanilla milk, slightly starchy from mallow and tonka. lactic but not creamy— almost a touch soapy? rich older woman cruising in a hotel lobby.

carnival of souls by marissa zappas. the hiss of a whipped cream canister and an extinguished incense match. a pvc and porcelain doll you swore just moved by itself. underwhelming.

bapteme de feu by serge lutens. candied orange peels, osmanthus, and metallic clove. dries down to a lovely metallic skin funk. a christmas market in an industrial district directed by robert eggers.

feeling very loved— my mom and sister know i’ve been struggling with nausea lately and bought me a big container of crystallized ginger.

it is such a crappy feeling! happy to be back enjoying my senses for the most part.

i haven’t done a SOTD in a long time! i’ve been struggling a lot with migraines and mental health things. i’m glad to get back to my patient array of perfume samples.

layer with green smoke by the same house (review incoming) if you like your tea served in a cliffside garden by the ocean.

#sotd is tea ceremony by lucky cloud fragrances. a sip of iced sencha while you put your nose to a ripe mango. honey drizzles dark and delicate with zips of ginger as you drink to the bottom of the cup. slips off the skin as a slightly tannic skin musk.
