basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

How Zohran Mamdani Beat Back New York’s Elite and Was Elected Mayor

This NYT story about how Mamdani dealt with the opposition by the city's elites fails to mention one particular elite institution: The NYT editorial page, which last June railed against him as "uniquely unsuited to the city’s challenges... lacks political savvy"

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

Liberals and progressives are the only ones with any agency, according to most political discourse. You *never* hear about a conservative need to understand liberals. It’s always on the left to fix things.

Why Democrats won't build their own Joe Rogan "This is not a cultural war that you can win just by doing fucking podcasts" + Meat Loaf’s wikipedia drama, eating disorder Twitter turns on Trump, DDG on Kai Cenat

Ever since I wrote this piece after the election, organizations reach out to like "do you have time to talk about what we can do to support progressive creators?" I reply: I don't need an hour, they need money. Full stop. That's what we need. And just like that these orgs vanish!

Striking how easily you can get millions of people to vote for a boot on their own face just by lying to them about the boot going on someone else's face.

Jonah Bromwich
The lead prosecutor on the Adams investigation has resigned from the federal prosecutor's office in Manhattan rather than agree to file a motion seeking to dismiss the corruption case against the mayor. In his resignation letter, Hagan Scotten wrote that any federal prosecutor
"would know that our laws and traditions do not allow using the prosecutorial power to influence other citizens, much less elected officials." He added: "If no lawyer within earshot of the president is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me."

Not exaggerating when I say that the path back is going to be built on people in positions of influence regaining their sense of self-respect.

so much wrong with this and the framing - obviously! - but also a great example of how certain media fixation with “coming up with a clever name for blatantly obvious shit/trends” ends up whitewashing whats going on and misinforming an audience. it’s a media pathology

a maximalist strategy of opposition against every nominee as unqualified would have stood a better chance of creating the kind of public outrage that might have led to more republican defections, but i'm sure the imaginary family that chuck schumer relies on to guide his decisions disagreed

If you wish to vote in New York City's mayoral Dem primary in JUNE (=the election that'll pretty much decide the next mayor), you must be registered as a Democrat *BY FRIDAY.*

An insanely early deadline bound to leave people vote out. At least make sure you're not one of them if you're interested!
