The only time a mixed number is helpful is as a final answer to a word problem, and decimals are much more common.

Do I read too fast? I only use the NYT Games app that my job provides full access for. And the website for Spelling Bee hints. The two tables for length and two starting letters really help focus my limited time. Just earned a good chunk of time back in my day, I guess.

It was an honor to sign the guest book in the home of Anne Frank.
I was here as a younger man and thought about her life as a dark chapter of history.
Today, I can’t help but think of her story as one of caution. Our world is fragile, and it’s incumbent on us not to break it.

A whiteboard with functions and transformations and magnets showing which ones were chosen at random.
In #mathstoday I made a game out of transforming functions using a dice, and flipping 6 coins. Then the students sketched the resulting graph on their whiteboards.
