The West have long been a target of the Kremlinโ€™s disinformation campaigns. Since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Russia has used a variety of information warfare tactics to destabilize the Ukrainian government & undermine the legitimacy of democratic governments. socialmedialab.ca/2024/03/12/n...

โ€œPlease listen to government sources and not these fools on Facebook.โ€

Officials in NL have had it with the disinformation spreading on social media about wildfires, which has now resulted in people harassing public servants. Itโ€™s hard to blame them. These platforms are a menace.

What Are People Still Doing on X? Imagine if your favorite neighborhood bar turned into a Nazi hangout

"X is racist. The only thing up for debate is whether this is a feature or a bug for those in charge," writes Charlie Warzel.

Here's a preview of a highlight from our upcoming "State of Social
Media in Canada 2025" (ETA 05/05/2025)

Highlight #6. X is the lone decliner: Account ownership slid from 40% to 37% since 2022 & is five points lower than its 2020 high, marking the first sustained retreat among the big platforms.

Digital Public Infrastructure Could Make a Better Internet The approach has seen rapid uptake in the global south and may even challenge the existing geopolitical order.

Digital public infrastructure does not loom as large as AI in the public or policymakersโ€™ consciousness. Yet its recent adoption and impact are just as significant, Akash Kapur writes.
