James Coussey surveillance picture

This is a story about spies. Though they are highly trained, they don’t work for an intelligence agency. They work for paying clients.

One target was James Coussey. He'd been a criminal prosecutor. Why were they after him? My new @theguardian.com investigation (1/8)

We've become so accustomed to lawbreaking that this probably won't ripple much, but it is important not to forget that firing the IRS Commissioner for refusing to break the law--if that's in fact what happened here--would and should prompt immediate articles of impeachment in any other presidency.

Just spitballing here, but cryptobros throwing sex toys at WNBA players on the court and other cryptobros and male sports commentators calling it funny and telling the women and their coaches to 'lighten up' both explains the 'male loneliness epidemic' and why I don't care about it.

Dreamers Face ‘Greatest Threat’ Yet in Trump Immigrant Crackdown The DACA program has survived years of political siege—but recent arrests have dreamers shocked and worried.

Deaf guy tried to show ICE his ID. An agent grabbed it and didn't return it.

So he tried to type a message about his disability but an agent grabbed his phone.

He was left w/ no way to communicate w/ the men seizing him.

He was a DACA recipient (a "dreamer"). He spent nearly a month in detention.

Federal judge issues fourth block of Trump's birthright citizenship order since Supreme Court ruling U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman ruled that President Trump's administration cannot withhold citizenship from children born to people in the country illegally or temporarily.

"U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman's preliminary injunction was expected after the judge said last month she would issue such an order if the case were returned to her by an appeals court. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case back to her later in July."

BREAKING: On a 2-1 vote, and after much delay, a D.C. Circuit panels issues an order that would end Chief Judge Boasberg's contempt proceedings in connection with the March 15 flights.

Two Trump appointees, Katsas and Rao, backed the decision. I would expect the full court to take this up en banc.

The White House is taking new steps to undermine every international student at our universities.

It has approved a new rule restricting student visas to 4 years max. That's not long enough for PhD students, or about half of undergrads, to finish their degree.

Likely to enter force within days.

But the most depressing part has gotta be how some are apparently using AI *to write IEPs for students with disabilities*.

Tell the Supreme Court: No Stay. Hands off NIH The Supreme Court is poised to allow Trump to illegally terminate NIH grants. Let's speak out. There is not much time.

The Supreme Court is reviewing a vitally important NIH case on its shadow docket.

It is likely that the Court will back Trump, and say his (illegal) grant terminations are ok.

We must speak up now.

Improving Oversight of Federal Grantmaking By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and to improve the process of Federal

1. Federal funding for research promotes tech, biomedical, and scientific discovery in the US, and provides training for the sci/tech workforce that has brought immeasurable wealth to the US over the past 75 years.

Today's executive order includes a provision that will obliterate both functions.

This is a shocking executive order that undermines the very idea of open inquiry. It turns federal grants into dispensations, subject to arbitrary and capricious withdrawal should the recipient say or believe the wrong things.
