Leadership is limited to or enhanced by the decisions of the leader. ~Dean Crisp
#Food4Thought - Core to the impact of a leader are the decisions they make. How leaders make decisions is key as well. Do they involve others? β¦ How can you upgrade and improve your decision quality?

"Pursuing someday is no way to live." Erik Wahl
#Food4Thought β¦ Erik Wahl points to the idea that if we rely on doing things from a "someday" perspective it leads to a life that is best not pursued. "Someday" often equates to never. What is a "someday" item you can do today?

It's the modern day definition of absolute folly for leaders to expect their employees to be committed to the organization when that same organization is not committed to them - to their well-being, to their growth and prosperity, and to what gives their life meaning and purpose. #leadership

"Momentum doesn't happen all at once. Nor does it happen just once." From the book: Get Momentum by Jason W. Womack and Jodi Womack
#Food4Thought ... Momentum can require additional momentum to keep things going. It just isn't an initial "push" and you are "good to go forever'. Momentum requires fuel to be maintained. How do you maintain "momentum" in your life?

#Food4Thought ... Austin Kleon's advice is a great way to de-stress & bring a bit of fun into your life. Letting yourself create the "worst art" can free yourself from overthinking things & striving to get it perfect. Here is a case where letting yourself be "bad" at something can be good for you.

#Food4Thought ... When I think of different perspectives I often think of different viewpoints. As Sam Bennett suggests that literally can be the case. When you look at an object from a different angle you can appreciate a different side of that object. What can you learn from this? #Perspectives

#Food4Thought .. Decisions are a journey. There's the front end where we gather information, formulate options & then choose. There's also the back end of the decision which involves its implementation & noting its impact. How does this perspective influence your thinking about decisions?

#Foopd4Thought ... I see wisdom in Benjamin Hardy's words as it relates to approaching and avoiding. Being aware of this means that if there is something I want to happen it's best that I do more than just be passive & wait. What steps can I take that will foster it happening? #Goals_Through_Action

#Food4Thought ... One way to consider "value" is from an additive perspective. Something becomes more valuable when it is "more" ... useful ... impactful ... flexible ... innovative ... than it was at the start. This aspect of "more" is where I see the connection between value and learning.

#Food4Thought - We hear things, yet at times we may not be paying attention to them. As Julian Treasure suggests, when we couple attention with hearing is when we are listening. I can forget this at times & think I'm listening when in reality I'm just hearing. Attention is what makes the
difference.

#Food4Thought ... I've found that when I appear to have endless options in my day I do fall prey to getting distracted. A "shiny object" pops up & I am drawn to it. However, on those days when I have a plan of what I want to do that day it is possible to side-step these distractions & get more done.

#Food4Thought ... I like how this quote frames
collaboration as a vehicle for addressing challenges
that no one has overcome before. The unique
combination of skills and experiences that are brought
together through collaboration can bring new ideas
and approaches that were previously untapped.

#Food4Thought ... The "obvious" can be hard to see when we look past it. Perhaps we're focused on or are more interested in something else. Perhaps we've grown tired of paying attention to it. You may heard the advice to not overlook the obvious ... at times "the obvious" is where the answer is.

#Food4Thought ... So many things vie for our attention. Joseph McCormack's comment points to the value in being succinct. There's also value in being compelling. We want to hold on to their attention. If we take too long to make our point or if the point is lackluster their mind may move elsewhere.

#Food4Thought ... Leslie Odom Jr. shares his love of questions that begin with "how" ... e.g. How might we β¦? How does this β¦? This type of question encourages input and participation. As said here, these questions activate the
listener. How might you best use questions that begin with "how"?

#Food4Thought - Think about the benefits that come from being able to prevent problems. Resources formerly used for responding to a given problem can be diverted to other needs. Thinking Upstream causes you to look at situations with different lenses, glean new insights & formulate new approaches.

#Food4Thought ... This quote highlights for me the power of questions. A good question does help bubble things up to the surface where they can be discussed, debated, transformed, improved upon etc. The key is to get these ideas & options out in the open so they can be processed & thought through.

#Food4Thought ... "Progress always requires change" ... this is a great reminder that if we keep doing what we always have done our situation stays the same. Not all change will lead to the progress we want to make, however, no change does translate into no progress. #Progress_Requires_Change

#Food4Thought ... This quote from Tom Vanderbilt points to the value of the journey. The goal may provide the motivation for the journey, yet, if we only fixate on the goal we run the risk of missing out on what the journey can teach us. What are your thoughts? #Value_of_the_Journey

For me. the key word in this quote is "convey". This isn't a verbatim transfer because that might mean you are only passing on a "copy" of the message. I believe convey means you pass on the message's core essence. You "understand" it well enough that you can pass on the orginal message's intent.

#Food4Thought ... Keith J. Cunningham asks a good question to reflect upon. Am I keeping up with the pace of change or am I falling behind because I am not devoting the needed time and energy to keep learning a core part of my efforts. How would you answer Keith's question?#PaceOfLearning

#Food4Thought - Whenever I read quotes such as this one I have a greater sense that there is still more that I can do. Consider asking yourself these questions:
Is there more good I can do?
How can I then go do it?

Each of us has our own story ... it's unique because we're all different. We don't hear all of these stories β¦ they can go untold. My takeaway is to be more mindful & work at being able to tell my story as a way of fostering learning & growth. When it comes to your story ... what are your thoughts?
