Important threads get lost when you map parts of a system in isolation.

But when you add in all the important connections, people get overwhelmed.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Purpose Mapping is a quick way to break the cycle.

In mindfulness and modeling we broke down how our own efforts can be the block to our breakthroughs. The sweet spot exists between structure and surrender.

Designing this made me realize information architecture isn't just about organizing content, it's about shaping how people connect with unseen systems. It was about layering time, memory, access, and emotion into a space that already means so much.
The future I imagine isn't full of gadgets - it's full of choices, care, designs, and experiences that pay attention.

I often ask it to help me organize my thoughts. I type a stream of conscious that seems like an incoherent ramble and see what it comes back with. I am often awe-struck at how it helps me make the implicit explicit.

Don't ask it do things you don't care about (or worse, that you don't have patience for). I've never gotten a quality output by asking it to do something I don't care about.

Don't trust it, it's not a calculator, it isn't always going to get it 100% right. But that doesn't mean it isn't incredibly helpful.

Break down tasks into smaller pieces that:
A) make it really clear what it should do and,
B) provides you with checkpoints to correct mistakes/provide more context along the way.

Ask it to perform a task you are proficient at, but treat it like an incredibly fast, but rather dense intern.
"your task is to analyze a dataset. pull total customers, average purchase value and churn rate. format it as a table in markdown."

Ask it to explain a topic that you want to learn more about.
"as an instructional designer, explain to me how tariffs work. Explain it as though you were talking to a 5th grader, but don't use childish examples."
Ask it for sources.
"include references where i can validate this information."

Hi @chf-ldn.bsky.social I have some thoughts about this. Here is a thread:

this is so beautiful and so real, so many parents are going thru this same situation, and the idea that we have an entire administration filled with people who feel like this person should not exist is rage inducing

Side-by-side comparison of a garden in two states. The left image, labeled β€œComplexity,” shows a lush, densely planted garden with tall sunflowers and various plants growing within a wooden fenced area. The background includes green grass, trees, and a red barn. The right image, labeled β€œSimplified,” shows the same garden plot cleared of all plants, covered with black weed barrier fabric that hasn't kept weeds out. A picture of desolation and lack.

#ConditionsForConfidence 003: Simplifying complexity isn't the answer.
