So that's what I'm after, and some of the reasoning behind it.

Those with career gaps or returning to work hugely welcome.

Training will be provided, but familiarity with core elements of the role would be an advantage.

4. We need additional capacity to cover our core operational functions too, as well as all this additional capacity so that when people do need to take weeks off sick, I'm not then covering everyone's roles and burning myself out too. Accessibility has to apply to everyone, not just a few of us.

3. If at any time, one or both of our kind of digital reception in the form of our main inbox handling goes down, or our sales and marketing goes down (as it has the past 6-8 weeks due to flare-ups in my team), then we don't generate leads, make sales, or manage the ones we make.

2. There are already models for how to create roles where multiple people cover the same set of functions, seamlessly, as if they're the same person: job shares. In the past I've thought of it as cross-cover, or doubling-up, or having primary/secondary people for tasks.

But this time? Job sharing.

So I'm trying to formalise or navigate at least four things at once:

1. We need dedicated sales staff to handle inbound leads and do outreach. We just do. Sales isn't bad; sales is how we create work for our team. Simple as, really.

We've gone through a few iterations, and so far, nothing has really stuck, for a whole host of different reasons.

We have, slightly embarrassingly, only really just got our heads screwed on to recognise that SALES REALLY MATTERS.

No sales = no income, no work, no viability, no business.

How do you build internal structures and roles within those structures that confer clear ownership over different functions and tasks within the business, while also being built to handle the reality of fluctuating chronic illness and the chance of staff absence or incapacity at any time?

Why am I hiring this way, this time?

As you know, I run a disabled-majority social enterprise with intimate, decades-long experience of what I think of as energy-impairment--or what in other times might be thought of as capacity-impairment.

It prompts a pretty tough organisational challenge...

I am looking for TWO new Sales & Marketing Assistants, and TWO new Customer Service & Operations Administrators.

In other words, I'm looking for FOUR new team members in total.

All roles are part-time, flexible, and remote.

One of each should be UK-based; otherwise? I'm open.

Right, I posted this earlier in a bit of a rush after realising that my youngest had spiked a fever and *would not stop breastfeeding* just before having to go get my eldest from forest school, but now I'm back, I've eaten, nap and TV chilling is happening.

So, it looks like I need to recruit some people who absolutely LOVE both our disabled-led, intersectional mission AND doing sales and account management into @aat-transcribes.bsky.social -- handling inbound leads, identifying audience targets and doing cold outreach, and building relationships

some hot behind the scenes content here, apparently this is the in thing now

And now I think i might have to write a paper that revisits the notions of legibility in epistemic and other forms of oppression that me and my pal Dr Schroer discussed in relation to microaggressions some years back

and then we went on a tangent about the burden of having to render these difficult experiences legible in employment contexts where only some kinds of sickness are considered valid reasons to stop work and even then might not be and where any stoppage begets penalties

The palpable relieved sigh I got in response plus the kind of small quiet joy at the prospect of not having to render a flare up or a depressive episode or a crash or whatever legible or explainable or even mention it was just a palpable reminder that thing suck for dis/CI/nd folks out there

I interviewed someone today and told them my usual bit about how one of @aat-transcribes.bsky.social’s rules is if for any reason you can’t complete an assignment just tell us, we’ll pay you for what you did, reassign the file, you don’t need to explain why and we will give you ZERO SHIT for it

@aat-transcribes.bsky.social is a disabled-led, disabled-majority but make it always and forever intersectional (and POLITICALLY so) social enterprise that gets research from the ground up AND is on a mission to improve access while making accessible work, we are FANTASTIC frankly
