Great proposal this. Continues to be incredibly funny and incredibly stupid that for years we've *banned* bus and rail operators "colluding" to make their timetables integrate with each other.

Isn't he the guy who argued with @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social that he'd installed pedestrian crossings (which were actually inaccessible traffic islands and nothing more) or am I getting my privileged idiots mixed up?

A portion of the Strรธget pedestrian street in Copenhagen that widens into a grand people-place.

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strรธget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued โ€œno cars means no business,โ€ but the street has been a massive retail success, the cityโ€™s busiest shopping street.

The evidence from the 2 years since Wales set a 20mph default for urban/village roads is clear:-
1,270 fewer casualties
134 fewer of them being fatal or serious
ยฃ45 pa lower insurance premiums than without 20
These are big wins for communities, NHS, emergency services and economy.

Don't change rules for migrants already in UK, Labour MPs tell Mahmood Some 35 Labour MPs are among those who have written to the home secretary to raise concerns about the plans.

The Government must stop listening to dodgy advice! Hear the trade unions, the care workers, the migrant support organisations - LISTEN TO YOUR BASE.
The immigration plans must be scrapped.

Rain

It rained and rained and rained and rained
The average fall was well maintained
And when the tracks were simply bogs
It started raining cats and dogs.

After a drought of half an hour
We had a most refreshing shower
And then the most curious thing of all
A gentle rain began to fall.

Next day was also fairly dry
Save for the deluge from the sky
Which wetted the party to the skin
And after that the rain set in.

Public ownership of water is the only way to deliver security, efficiency, investment and value for money 37 years of privatisation has been a disaster

England's water companies have paid ยฃ85bn in dividends.

Borrowed ยฃ82.7bn. 35% of customer covers interest payments and shareholder payouts.

Sewage in rivers, insecure water supplies. Customer complaints up 50% last year. No exec prosecuted

Govt response - abolished fines on water companies.

โ€˜Tameโ€™ wide British roads and replace them with boulevards of homes, says thinktank Exclusive: Create Streets proposes building on Britainโ€™s โ€˜road beltโ€™ rather than its green belt amid housing crisis

You can absolutely build more homes where the existing services are, whilst shrinking traffic in those areas by improving public transport further. Build the homes on the roads. www.theguardian.com/cities/2023/...

This is what happens when society continues in it's current direction. We are closer to civil war under this government than people realise.
