Trump Administration Knew Vast Majority of Venezuelans Sent to Salvadoran Prison Had Not Been Convicted of U.S. Crimes Homeland Security records reveal that officials knew that more than half of the 238 deportees were labeled as having no criminal record in the U.S. and had only violated immigration laws.

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

The journalists I know at @NPR.org and @PBS.org are among the best in the business -- smart, open minded, independent and totally professional. Trump made clear in the Oval Office today that what he wants are journalists who will tell him that his policies are "wonderful," not ask tough questions.

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

What Trump has done for US farmers so far:
-frozen their foreign aid program (and left their food to rot)
-encouraged EU to ban their products
-frozen legally-owed reimbursements for their energy efficiency upgrades etc.
-threatened to deport half their workforce
-suppressed research on bird flu

5 ways immigrants can prepare for 4 more years of Trump

Know your rights

Everyone living in the U.S. has certain basic rights under the U.S. Constitution, and it’s important that we all assert and protect those rights. Explore NILC’s Know Your Rights resources at www.nilc.org.

Put together a family preparedness plan

This might include emergency phone numbers
and family contact information, childcare plans, and a file of important documents should you need it.

Consider consulting an immigration attorney

An attorney can help address specific concerns, including whether it’s possible to adjust your immigration status and what to do if you encounter immigration enforcement.

If your state has inclusive driver's license policies, consider applying for one

A driver’s license provides valid identification and helps reduce the risk of entering the criminal justice system if stopped by authorities.

Connect with a grassroots advocacy group in your city or state

This administration wants to divide and distract us, isolating us from each other and instilling fear. To defend one another and our neighbors, we need community and solidarity.

U.S. Agrees to Pay $116 Million to Settle Sexual Abuse Claims at California Prison Lawyers for the victims said it was the largest deal of its kind reached with the federal Bureau of Prisons.

The federal government agreed on Tuesday to pay about $116 million to settle lawsuits by 103 women who said they had been sexually abused while in custody at a now-shuttered women’s prison in Northern California where such claims were rampant.

A Kamala Harris Canvasser’s Education Even on my first day, I sensed dissonance between the campaign’s celebrity-inflected exuberance and the raw divisions I saw in the streets.

Here's a really good article from @juliaprestonnow.bsky.social, about her experience of canvassing in Allentown, PA. I spent a decent amount of time there this cycle, and what she says resonates deeply.
