I finished it. Adored it. I have REALLY been loving getting to read so much gothic horror and suspense in the last year. Truly we are living in a time where we need space to feel scared and terrified in a safe way, and these books do that. I’m here for it. All of it.

Got an ARC of @cheriepriest.com ‘s It Was Her House First, and it’s been a wonderful story during a truly horrendous week of car bills and heat domes and surprise work adventures. Her work never disappoints to thrill and create my favorite kinds of suspense.

Once again I remind people that laws should not be your guiding heuristic on how you view or treat others.

Laws are built on the biased and often bigoted sensibilities of the powerful.

Empathy and basic decency (as defined in a way not dependent on anyone's legal status) are a better foundation.
