β€œNostalgia is bullshit. It is a brain-worm that makes adults regress into children who argue about Ghostbusters while the world fucking burns.”

Translation: β€œRepublicans are upset that they didn’t get enough time in the news cycle to gloat about their victory on the shutdown where they forced Democrats to choose between hungry people and sick people.”

The odds of a flood in a high risk zone is 26% for a 30 year mortgage, and 39% for a 50 year mortgage. The odds of a flood in a X500 zone (flood once every 500 years) is 5.8% for a 30 year mortgage and 9.5% for a 50 year mortgage. The risk to banks on that alone is insane.

Did the writer of this article come from an alternate universe where Chamberlain defeated the Nazis through appeasement?

The contempt I have for these cowards has left an indelible mark. People didn’t march, and vote, and suffer without pay, so that stupid fucks like Angus King could give up the last bit of legislative leverage in exchange for a pinky promise from Senate Republicans to vote on the ACA.

Them: β€œYou’re not a man.”
Me: β€œOkay, since there are only two genders in your mind, that must mean I’m a woman right?”
Them: β€œNo, you’ll always be a man.”
Me: β€œOkay well I’m just gonna do my own thing, and let you figure your shit out.”

Except it does solve for efficiency, at least more so than an internal combustion engine. Internal combustion engines lose a significant amount of energy as heat sent out via the radiator and the exhaust. In a multistage gasoline power plant the exhaust gases are used to drive a secondary turbine.

This is great, it means that candidates will be deciding what’s important, instead of the useless consultant class.

That’s solid logic when Manchin was still running for re-election. But when he announced he was retiring and could have voted however he felt, he showed his true colors by switching to an Independent.

It displays that a person adheres to a childishly simplistic notion of the world and how it works. Either they haven’t experienced enough of the world to understand how little they know about anything, or they cling to bigoted beliefs because they don’t want to understand.

I agree but this doesn’t go far enough. If you want a society of competent and corruption resistant public servants, you have to pay accordingly. If wages don’t come close what’s available in the private sector for the same skill set, people will avoid public sector jobs.

Between ICE and SNAP, this administration has established their core operating principle: They know what the laws are, but they only follow them when it’s to their benefit.

You incorrectly presume a lot about the way I interact with media, which is pretty insulting considering you don’t know anything about me.

The failure of media stems from the prioritization of continued access above journalistic integrity, as well as a for-profit advertising model that is inconsistent with accountability.

It’s not fear-mongering to suggest that someone who is regularly breaking the law and lying about and using food as a weapon might do other shady shit. Failing to acknowledge the threat of further lawbreaking and further pain is just naΓ―vetΓ© given this administrations track record.

Whataboutism is an attempt to deflect from an accusation by making a counter-accusation. For example.

Accusation: β€œThe Republicans are trying to use hungry people as a bargaining chip.”

Whataboutist Retort: β€œThe Democrats just want to give healthcare to illegals.”

This Sheriff needs to be fired, ASAP, he thinks he is owed compliance.

β€œWe sent Lexington Police Department out to speak to him, and he refused to do that,” Weems told NewsChannel 5. β€œI mean, what kind of person does that? What kind of person just says he don’t care, I’m not taking it down?”

With the same amount of money, we could give the 42 million people being thrown off SNAP an extra $10,000 a year for 10 years.

The problem is that they can’t math, and they are racist. They hear a few stories a year about violence on the subway without considering the other 2 billion rides annually that occur without incident. They see a subway car full of minorities and assume they are in mortal danger.
