Fantastic Fest heavy Last Four

14 APPOFENIACS - A solid last entry of the fest. It’s Pulp Fiction for brainrotted Gen Z. The future’s about to get a whole lot more confusing.

#13 Primate - solid kills in this Cujo-esque horror ride. The monkey design is surprisingly effective.

#12 Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die - the world’s a better place when Gore Verbinski’s making movies.

#11 Night Patrol - Making movies is hard.

#10 Reflection in a Dead Diamond - an acid fueled James Bond rip. It melted my brain and I won’t forget any time soon.

#9 V/H/S Halloween - this entry’s a banger; not a bad one in the bunch! ‘Kid Print’ is going to fuck people up.

#8 Meat Kills - wish it would have gone just a bit harder on the kills for it to enter the feel bad cinema hall of fame. It’s okay.

#7 The Creep Tapes Season 2 - this is Brice and Duplass’ playhouse! These 3 eps do some fun, subversive things. If they can keep this up, I’ll keep watching.

Missed Obsession and Secret screening #3 (One Battle After Another.) My second day has not been kind, but secured tickets for tomorrow and still have Creep Tapes tonight

#6 If I Had Legs I’d Kick You - A guttural scream. Rose Byrne is a woman possessed Mary Bronstein caught on film. F**ked me up from the title sequence.

#5 The Curse - it may revolve around social media but this feels straight out of the J Horror craze in the early 00’s. A wacky way to end the night.

#4 Bugonia - a double feature of this and Eddington would be wild but bad for your health. May Yorgos continue to use Jesse and Emma as his muses.

#3 Road to Vendetta - it’s John Wick meets Leon the Professional with style. Fav of the fest so far; had a good time.

#2 Penance - sound design was rough and unfinished but for $7 budget there’s a fight scene in hear that’s very cool. Talk about calling in all your favors.

#1 Vicious - would be a fairly effective scare fest if it wasn’t so drawn out. Blame the hangover, but I did not vibe with this.
