This tracks. What I really want to see as part of this is for the UI to react to device gyros, detected light and even eye tracking, making the whole thing feel like it’s a real 3D part of the world. If windows on my Mac could be positioned in 3D on the Vision Pro, that would be gold.

Use tape or paint to color-code the ones that are good for data or for high power applications (e.g. 100W). Most thinner cables are only good for charging, though.

OK, this is weird and silly, but it works. The Movies folder, in List view, can show Dimensions, Codecs, Duration and Title for videos. For any other folder, you have to rename it to "Movies", then enable these columns in List view, then you can rename the folder whatever you want.

QuickTime Player, ⌘I to Get Info. There are some sneaky tricks to show resolution in the Finder though.

The largest single group of people watching videos you make and post online are on Apple devices. QuickTime Player is closest to that.

In general, color management on PCs is spotty at best, only in specific apps. Premiere Pro only just added this back in the 2025 release. Their design apps have supported CM for decades.

In a world where everyone is using an identical display, you don’t need color profiles. But if some are using wide gamut, some SDR and some HDR, you need to use tag files with color profiles and display them with color management. VLC doesn’t use color management.

Worth noting: VLC ignores color profiles by default so everything looks different to QuickTime Player, which is close to the appearance of YouTube etc. You can change the profile in prefs but it’s wrong by default for any Mac with a display, and several levels deep. Awful.

It’s very difficult for anyone to succeed in the film industry, to be honest. Slop is definitely awful but TikTok is more of a problem for Hollywood than AI. Glad we found some common ground.
