IIRC didn't VLS used to ring up Whale on a wind up which Whale hated. Except Whales producer hated him so just let VLS through as it was really funny and would then feign ignorance.

I see that radio and television right wing oik James Whale has died.

I also see that in interviews he claimed that when he worked as an actor in the 1970s he appeared in Z Cars and Doctor Who.

Not to speak ill of the dead. But he was lying about those.

Progress being made on the 1974 Panasonic EIAJ Open Reel Video Recorder

Was sent by eBay Seller, via EVRI, in thin box, single bubble wrap. What could possibly go wrong…

I gave up. My buddy Peter who is way cleverer & patient than I is making progress. Picture is there, tracking & servo still off

I'm partly convinced that the 'Robin Reliant' thing was intentionally said to try to avoid blatant advertising on the BBC even though there's no evidence as yet for this assertion.

M&M shared time on some platforms with Granada Breeze, an almost equally mad mixture of lifestyle programmes aimed mainly at women but majoring in psychic prediction shows.

Was just reminded of TV channel Men and Motors, which was utterly bizarre. Did I imagine it or did one programme consist of a couple visiting a lingerie shop together in the first half, then the woman doing an "erotic" dance in the second? So odd.

Yes I/we didn't like her at the time. Shame as to what happened to her subsequently even if her singing wasn't appreciated by all.

Big brother is watching you with an interval

Halfway through and I’m impressed by how compelling 1984 is compared to other 1950s’ dramas I’ve watched. Its pace feels much greater and the film inserts help. And they’re beautiful so I’m glad I waited for this release!
