It’s nice to see a steady upwards trajectory in quality for a series that started off as a fairly paint by numbers affair and has now gotten to grips with the charm of its source material to produce some solid family films.

Insane to think that 'Gavin & Stacey' started with 0.5M viewers on BBC3 in 2007 and then grew to see an audience of 20M during Christmas 2024.

I also learned the only way to have any kind of voice in that sector was to write about fan art because there was practically nothing to say about it, allowing me to sneak in my own observations and opinions on the topic to pad out the thing while also keeping from going brain dead.

I used to be a Film/TV News writer for them back when I was desperate to have anything other to do than my day job.

It was amazing going through training how articles are deliberately structured to bury the thing that it’s meant to be about 3/4 paragraphs in after 5 links to other site content.

Love the look, the vibe, the doggo but what’s also a nice touch, no title drop. The character is so ingrained into our modern mythology that it doesn’t need it.
