Seeing the pictures of the homes - they are so familiar in their style to a part of what I also consider 'home'. Hearing the voices of Waltz and reporters - the intonations, the pauses - it's like hearing close family speak. Really feeling the distance between there and here, and yet also not.

Concerns for safety of family members, feelings of grief and uncertainty, and a strange recognition of MN and mixed feelings about the Lake Wobegon stereotype. Curiousity about how it is reported on different outlets and which narratives are dominant.

The weekend events in Minnesota, most notably reported in the UK as the assassination of Melissa Hortman & her husband followed by the 'manhunt', have affected me in ways I had not anticipated. When work and life knowledges intersect.

I've also heard of institutions that won't/can't free up more time than that for some co-applicants or it's too cost-prohibitive to have a higher FTE for them (even if the allocated tasks/work streams they are down for would feasibly take more time than that, expected to do in 'own time').
