As bad as your day might be, it could be worse, you could be the person who accidentally published the OBR's budget document a couple of hours early: obr.uk/docs/dlm_upl...

No place is safe in the Ukraine.

No place is safe in the Ukraine.

Deadly attacks in Western Ukraine are a stark reminder that no part of the country is safe.

States should not refuse protection or assistance to Ukrainians on the basis that some parts of Ukraine are safe.

Inside Ukraine, UNHCR remains on the ground, helping the most affected.

This is the thing to hang onto - I’m glad people are appalled by Farage’s Nazi sympathies now, but the fact is, he was able to present TV programmes and constantly appear as a sofa guest for decades, booked by people who knew it all. We must reckon with that.

Michael Gove Made Orwell Prize Judge Despite Record of Attacking Journalists and Dodging Scrutiny Critics say "Orwell would have enjoyed the irony" of the former Conservative minister's appointment

I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Every day the #BBC uncritically platform dark money funded right-wing voices. Examples include the Institute of Economic Affairs, the Taxpayers' Alliance & the ridiculous right-wing contrarians Spiked. Time to call time on media representation without knowing who pays the bills.

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

"Second, we need to enforce the policy with a vigour that has reduced flows at America’s southern borders by 90 per cent, and in Denmark by 95 per cent. Crucial to the Trump programme is an aggressive policy of removals, including snatching suspected illegals off the street. One friend tells me Latino parents are now so afraid to be seen out and about that the other parents have a rota to walk the Latino children to and from school. It is hard to imagine that taking place in Britain."

Just a jaw-dropping paragraph in Trevor Phillips's column for The Times.

This is a policy that, by his own account, has left parents of a particular race too frightened to walk their children to school.

And that's the example he chooses of the "vigour" we "need".

Amazing thread about Toronto's Orange Order.
When I went there in 1990 I was told that the only Irish pubs in Toronto were run by Orangemen (I can't say for certain if this was true but it was certainly rumoured).

Mull's 1940s romantic comedy that brought Gaelic to cinema I Know Where I'm Going was made 80 years ago but still has an impact today.

“I know where I’m going “ is a great film but good to see Werner Kissling’s use of Gaelic in his 1935 documentary also acknowledged www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

An extraordinary 'mega roost' of thousands of Red-footed Falcons has been documented in Hungary this autumn:
