OK nerds, I have a challenge for you.

@tangledwilderness.bsky.social has just published my Letter to the Trans Teens Thinking About Giving Up as a zine. I want to see how many copies of it we can get into the hands of the people who need to read it, and I need YOUR help.

Like, if you just have a deep need to “be right on the internet” then yes, you’re technically correct. What I’m saying is that this has set the bar rather high to find and avoid something that it should be easy to assume is not in most food unless it’s specifically labeled otherwise.

Things with artificial sweeteners used to say “diet” or “sugar free” on the front label. Now, they’re in things with literally no indication beyond the ingredients. It’s a lot to ask to check the full label of every single item I buy every time and know every possible name of a sugar alcohol.

This is especially a problem for places like Wyoming with vast amounts of land served by small rural hospitals.

Not forced, but the number of stealthily added artificial sweeteners in recent years on things that don’t say so has gone up a startling amount. I hate finding out something contains aspartame because I suddenly have a horrible headache and don’t know why.

ICE No! Water Yes!

Bring a water bottle with a squirt top in case you need to rinse out your eyes or someone else’s when tear gas or pepper spray have been deployed. Bring more water for drinking and sharing with those around you!

Water is life. ICE is injustice.
Abolish ICE. Share water. 💦

Remember, protests can involve lots of singing and shouting. Carry plenty of water, and maybe a few cough drops or hard candies. 🍬 Make friends in the streets by sharing!

This passage from @benjamincarterhett.bsky.social's book on Hitler's rise to power has long haunted me for the way it describes how so many ordinary Germans had their minds & souls gradually rewired by the changing political climate of the 1930s. Watching something similar happen here is terrifying.

Go to this thread. Email these folks to let them know how you feel about their work separating children from their families, arresting babies, deporting green card holders with no criminal history, etc. Let them know this isn’t even remotely acceptable, that they can and should refuse their orders.

This right here. Spreading "perfect victim" or "innocence" narratives is dangerous and cedes ground on the fact that *all* people deserve dignity, humane treatment, and access to due process. Feeding into perfect victim or innocence narratives isn't just irresponsible messaging, it is copaganda.

As it should be. We are better as a people when we protect and uplift diversity and make sure all people have fundamental rights to be secure in their country as citizens. We need not think, speak, act, or look alike to have precious gifts to share.

If you haven’t been vaccinated, were vaccinated more than 10 years ago, or have had a health condition that took down your immune system since getting vaccinated, get a titer level or just get a booster on your MMR. Your life is precious, and so are those around you. Protect your community!

Writing an op-ed is not illegal activity. They are revoking visas for thought crimes and for constitutionally protected expression.
