I have had cops at a protest play nice when they were just playing for time. Probably didn't sound like it but really meant a clarifying question. My thinking was warm drinks might be actually helpful and more than neutral.

It's a nice gesture but feels a little like cops taking a knee in 2020 rather than protecting from ICE. So I should have asked have they done anything to protect anyone from ICE rather than anything but suppress dissent. To what extent would you say this sustained protestors vs. keeping them busy?
