I'm not so sure about that. I think it speaks more about people (mostly men) in our age bracket having disposable income and looking to spend it on something for the sake of having something new.

I love tech. It matters not if it's vintage, retro, FPGA or a hobbyist project. I'm also extremely suspicious of the motivations behind this latest venture from a man I've never been able to accept as genuine. This feels like a grift. Maybe he'll change my mind, but I'm happy to just sit and watch.

Anyway, I guess my point is that I wish more people would demonstrate their moral compass by boycotting anything produced by "AI". It's just your stolen data munged and fed back to you, and you'll pay for the privilege.

Their tactics include blatant theft and they're well aware of it, but if they win the race they also know their fines will pale in comparison to their revenue. This whole system stinks to high hell.

AI is the current win at all cost scam perpetuated by all the big tech players. They'll use any method possible to snort up anything they can get their hands on. They'll use services that brag about their ability to circumvent paywalls and sometimes break crdenetials to get at private collections.
