I think the problem is that there wasn't really an ending. Although I've been told if you sit through ending credits with subtitles enabled, there actually was an ending & you'll see it.

Started around the same time, also with Slackware. Spent near a month trying to get my PPP chat script working with local ISP, but eventually prevailed. Problem in the end was DNS. Been almost exclusively Linux desktop since early 2000's.
Anyway, it launched a career for me as Linux & Unix admin.
I hadn't realised they made people so small!

What, and he hasn't even got a commodore.net email address yet?
Must have a boot full of magic beans to sell.
NEW!
"The Commodore 64 could be the micro-computer industry's outstanding new product introduction since the birth of this industry."
What to do on a rainy Saturday morning. Sit outside on the lounge drinking coffee and reading BYTE magazine, august 1982 volume 7. What a time to be alive!

21.07.2025 12:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I helped a neighbour setup Win 11 on a new laptop yesterday and it was one of the most frustrating and broken experiences I've ever had. When did computers stop working for us and start working against us? If I had trouble, what hope has a non techie got?
20.07.2025 02:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not so sure about that. I think it speaks more about people (mostly men) in our age bracket having disposable income and looking to spend it on something for the sake of having something new.

Going to have some fun with this one!
I love tech. It matters not if it's vintage, retro, FPGA or a hobbyist project. I'm also extremely suspicious of the motivations behind this latest venture from a man I've never been able to accept as genuine. This feels like a grift. Maybe he'll change my mind, but I'm happy to just sit and watch.
14.07.2025 11:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, that will be Gideon's Ultimate64 (the userport adapter is the give away) in a retrofuzion case with Jim Drew's blingboard.
Removes the fun & satisfaction of building one yourself, so more geared to those wanting a short dose of nostalgia, for which the64 already exists at 1/3 the price.
Anyway, I guess my point is that I wish more people would demonstrate their moral compass by boycotting anything produced by "AI". It's just your stolen data munged and fed back to you, and you'll pay for the privilege.
24.06.2025 02:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Their tactics include blatant theft and they're well aware of it, but if they win the race they also know their fines will pale in comparison to their revenue. This whole system stinks to high hell.
24.06.2025 02:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0AI is the current win at all cost scam perpetuated by all the big tech players. They'll use any method possible to snort up anything they can get their hands on. They'll use services that brag about their ability to circumvent paywalls and sometimes break crdenetials to get at private collections.
