Line graph time series of daily Arctic temperatures north of 80°N latitude for every year from 1958 through 2025. There is a long-term warming trend for every day of the year and a clear seasonal cycle. 2025 is currently much warmer than average.

Things are really not good around the North Pole. Anomalous warmth continues, alongside record low #Arctic sea ice conditions. Nearly every time I check the data, there seems to be yet another new record this fall.

It's a really callous, ugly way to express a larger truth. The same thing applies to Florida. At what point in the current sea level rise curve do we throw in the towel, stop throwing good money after bad, and retreat? 1m? 5m? 10?

Line graph time series of global ocean heat content for the 0-2000 m layer for 3 year averages, yearly averages, and five years averages from the late 1950s to 2025. There is a long-term warming trend. The baseline is 1955-2006 for the zero reference to calculate the anomalies.

Meanwhile, back in reality, global ocean heat content just updated through June 2025 and set a new record high. Time to wake up!

Seems to me that every flash flooding incident in the last 30 years that was reported on TV illustrated the story with a clip of cars driving / people wading through flood waters, and seemingly getting away with it. 2 mins later, the anchors will be solemnly reading out warnings about not doing it.
