Anyway, the downside to this is sometimes you end up seriously considering buying silk charmeuse for characters who absolutely do NOT deserve it.

(It's also why I'm not super keen on going to cons in the summer or in warmer states. It always sounds like a recipe for me overheating and having a bad time.)

So one of the upsides of having grownup money is that I have the option to budget for natural fiber fabric for sewing projects when it makes sense. I'm very heat sensitive and have gotten sick in cosplay because of it so anything I can do to keep cool is a good thing.
