Justified outrage over Trump spending millions while cutting off SNAP accompanied by videos of "dancers." But secondary point: how unhappy and spiritless the dancers look. www.facebook.com/reel/1547990...

Often attributed to Brendan Behan (almost certainly correctly) "I have never seen a situation so dismal that a policeman couldn't make it worse."

If you are in WA state, please vote no on 8201. Our state currently has nearly 29% of its pensions invested in private equity. That won't end well, and should not be extended to the long term care trust fund.

If the Adams appointed rent board members stop his rent freeze, firing them would, at the least, be tied up in court. But he has another option. Ask the majority of the city council who endorsed him to expand the size of the rent board, and appoint his own majority.

Blue Sky is no paradise. It has plenty of problems including an anti-Palestinian bias. But it does *not* muffle posts with links. So please, just put your link a post, not a photo of your link. Don't link in first reply. Just, please post the damn link.

After police used Flock cameras to accuse a Denver woman of theft, she had to prove her own innocence Chrisanna Elser spent days collecting evidence, from apps on her phone to dashcam footage in her vehicle, to prove her whereabouts

coloradosun.com/2025/10/28/f... In a way an example of artificially enhance human stupidity being a greater threat than artificial intelligence. In another, example AI working exactly as the user prefers. This cop pretty clearly cared more about closing a case than factual guilt or innocence.

For me, and obviously this kind of thing is very personal, the dogman centaur was the single scariest scene I've ever seen in a horror movie, bar non. Creepy children, creepy dolls, weeping angels, nothing comes close to inducing as much pure terror in me as that scene.

TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON

This cartoon has six panels.

PANEL 1

An outdoor park environment. In the background, a bearded man with a blue shirt holds a "Save Gaza" sign. In the foreground, a man in a polo shirt and a woman in a red skirt and black vest are talking about the bearded man.

POLO: Why does that guy single out Israel for criticism? Lots of countries do bad things!

VEST: I'll ask him.

PANEL 2

The woman in the vest has approached the bearded man. From this angle, we can see that under the vest, she's wearing a shirt with the Israeli flag on it.

VEST: There are so many evil governments, and yet you've decided to protest the only Jewish state. Do you have something against Jews?

PANEL 3

The bearded man earnestly replies.

BEARD: Huh. I guess I was raised to care about Israel. We talked about Israel a lot in Hebrew school. When other kids fundraised for UNICEF we donated our allowances for growing trees in Israel.

PANEL 4

The bearded man looks angrier.

BEARD: Also, I'm American. We give tons of weapons to Israel. So when Israel commits genocide, my tax dollars enable it.

PANEL 5

The bearded man smiles; the vest woman looks unconvinced.

BEARD: Besides, no one can focus equally on everything. I bet you pay more attention to Israel. If it's okay for you to prioritize some issues, why isn't it okay for me?

PANEL 6

The vest woman has returned to talking with the guy in the polo shirt.

POLO: So what did he say?

VEST: It's like we thought, he just hates Jews.

US residents: If you pay attention to local politics, and you have followers local to you and there are elections in your area, post your recs! Shockingly many don't pay attention to local stuff. Local elections is the single most likely place for your posts to actually influence votes!

I'm sure there are exceptions, and even entire contexts where the following does not apply. But referring to human women and girls as "females" in ordinary discourse is usually a sign that someone is an awful person.

I for one think the Epstein Ballroom will be magnificent. I love the decor theme of β€œwhat if Uday Hussein ran a Ramada Inn.” And giving it a theme song everyone will associate with it is a stroke of brilliance! β€œThank Heaven for Little Girls” is very catchy.

To keep my Medicaid, I have to complete an interview before November 13th. However, I cannot start the review before November 3rd, and interviews are only done 8-2, Interviewers are always swamped; so I need to call or show up right at eight then wait in person or on hold for a few hours.

If there is something worthwhile in a pub you are boycotting you probably can read any particular article that interests you in Archive.is. Not something that will work forever. WSJ has already closed that loophole, but it still works on most publications.

I think one answer would be their record aside from seeking elected office. That is, have they done anything in politics that would indicate possessing principles? Worked with organizations, worked for other candidates, anything besides run for office themselves to indicate a trajectory.

Anyone who thinks there is no such thing as a stupid question has never watched a journalist moderated debate. (Inspired by the parade question asked at Mamdani/Cuomo debate.)

This cartoon has four panels. The cartoon is set in a doctor’s examining room – it has one of those tall examination tables with padding so patients can lie down, medical equipment and a degree hanging on walls, various cabinets, a sink. A tired-looking woman in a yellow tank top and black capri pants is sitting on the exam table. A doctor is standing in front of her. We can tell he’s a doctor because he’s wearing a white lab coat and has a stethoscope hanging around his neck. He’s holding a clipboard in one hand.

PANEL 1

The doctor is speaking to the patient. The patient is slumping a little, while the doctor is stiffly upright.

DOCTOR: Some people use narcotics to get high. So when you come here and say you’re in constant pain, that tells me you’re a lying drug-seeker.

PANEL 2

A closer shot of just the doctor as he speaks, looking stern and a bit angry, clutching the clipboard to near his chest.

DOCTOR: If you ask for pain meds, you’re a drug seeker.

DOCTOR: If you seem desperate, you’re a drug seeker.

DOCTOR: If you cry, you’re a drug-seeker.

PANEL 3

A close-up of the doctor’s face as he lectures, one forefinger raised.

DOCTOR: If you talk back to me, you’re a drug-seeker. If you don’t like me assuming you’re a drug-seeker, you’re a drug-seeker.

PANEL 4

A shot of the patient and doctor. The patient is now very wide-eyed, and leans back, away from the doctor. The doctor leans forward, hunching over his clipboard a bit as he makes a note.

PATIENT: Could I talk to a doctor who isn’t horrible?

DOCTOR: β€œDoctor-shopping.” Classic drug-seeker.

If a vote is a chess move, not a valentine, then you also don't need to write love letters, sing love songs, or talk love talk about politicians. You can vote for someone while publicly saying you will turn against them in a heartbeat if the opportunity for something better comes along.

In all fairness, if you are not well known, a youtube video will get a lot more views than an audio podcast will get listens. Like, I could do a youtube video and I'd get a few hundred views. (Not because I'm special. If you have an eight year old child they could do the same.)
