I've had a few exciting discussions on Bluesky with ALP apologists and rustydons. They remind me of fundamentalist Christians - fervent supporters of a body that no longer represents the original message...and about as rational in their arguments as well.

I wouldn't say I'm stoked the ALP got a second term. I would say that I'm stoked that the LNP got wiped out. Instead of getting hit by the LNP concrete block which would have broken the bones of everyone but billionaires, we got ALP soggy wet tissue instead. We dodged tyrants only to get cowards.

ALP is not centre-left. It's not even centre. It's a centre right party. The former centre-right (LNP) is now far-right. Hawke and Keating sold the Labor Party's soul to neoliberalism and economic rationalism in the 1980s. The rusted-on ALP types are in denial if they believe otherwise.
