Please...PLEASE stop referring to the military occupation of American cities and the brutalization of minority communities as "distractions."

It's an unfortunate truth that someone can be full of violent bigotry and still be correct about another- even related - issue. Dixiecrats were the economic populist heart of the Democratic Party at the time, instrumental in getting the new deal through... and keeping it segregated.

Democratic Party leadership hasn’t made the demographic realization that cosmopolitan middle class suburban wine moms outnumber the mythic β€œreal Americanβ€œ.

Nobody cares about the victims in the Dallas ICE shooting apparently. The first I've heard about one of them was on CNN today. He's fighting for his life in the hospital --- he was brought to the US when he was 13. He's 33 now. No criminal record.

I just don't know what to say anymore.

The US president saying "Comedians and the news are not allowed to criticized me" should be giant front-page news in every outlet in America, by the way.

It's him repudiating the First Amendment and the Constitution. Unambiguously and clearly.

"But supposing the world has become "filled up", so to speak, with liberal democracies, such as there exist no tyranny and oppression worthy of the name against which to struggle?"

This supposition is false & easily debunked, so it's baffling that people quote this for any reason other than dunking

It should be needless to say, but it is perhaps at this moment worth saying, that transgender individuals have the same right as anyone else to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Yes, do this.

"You cannot arrest someone because they are Hispanic" is worth fighting for. It's worth shutting down the government for. And it's worth attracting attention to.

FDR did attempt to create a like, govt endorsement of quality thing but it was shut down by the courts. Roosevelt threatened to pack them in response; while not atypical, conservatives love to point at it as dictatorial. That and the 4 terms (not that he was the only one to try for more)

That's more or less the point. States RIghts theories, up until very recently, have almost always meant "the right to decide how abusive we are." The only real exceptions were the wave of abolitionism in the 1780-1810s, and that Wyoming kinda bullied the govt into letting them keep women's suffrage

The main idea was that the President was kinda like a police chief - didn't make the rules, just enforced them. It also helped them design a govt theh could bully Washington into to help legitimacy after the Articles of Confederation.

Congress never liked doing their job tho, hence power shifted

dude stop engaging so damn much with people who post shit you don’t like in your replies. public figures are going to get insane replies on social media.

you don’t have to tell everyone about every reply that you hate. endlessly engaging with the worst/dumbest comments you get is bad!

The people around him are much smarter and more dogmatic; trump has people he hates and listens to people who tell him how to hurt them, but can flip within that window more rapidly.

However, Vance and Co lack any of the "charisma" holding the coalition together.

16th century hot take: Charles V is like if the Triple Entente was embodied in an individual human. His existence was basically a foreign policy initiative to contain Valois France. And it (mostly) worked!

Geopolitical naivetΓ© is over.

We are massively increasing our defence investmentsβ€”to reinforce our own security, strengthen our industries, and create jobs across Europe. This also enhances our credibility and influence on the global stage.

Personally, I feel it lets me be more experimental with my thumbnails. Tweak composition, captions, etc. So the creativity and the fact that it is the most important part of the product (one which I'm trying to make a career and that countless have) is part and parcel, not in opposition.

(Ms. Campbell at her desk in full lecture mode)
Campbell: Every day it’s another excuse. β€œA honey badger ate my homework!” β€œI couldn’t study because of the full moon”

Campbell: and the constant acting out! How many talks have we had about that? It’s hard enough teaching without the Kevin Beecham Show!

Campbell: This behavior HAS to stop, but I’m at my wits end, here! So, I’m asking… what do YOU suggest we do about it?

(Pull out from Campbell to show Kevin’s mom Janine sitting in a tiny child-sized chair in front of Ms. Campbells desk)
Janine: Honestly I was hoping YOU had some suggestions.

Three panel cartoon titled At Random by Ryan Mason. First panel shows a man and a woman at a bar with the man pointing at the woman and saying "You know what would look good on you?" In the second panel, the man points his thumb back at himself and says "Me." In the third panel, the woman is standing in front of a mirror wearing a dress clearly pierced together from the man's skin, with the skin of one hand and one foot visible in the dress and the skin of the man's head and face draped next to a sewing machine in the background. She is saying to herself, clearly in response to the man's previous assertion, "I don't see it."

An affront to the Constitution and everything it stands for. We should impeach him for treason, convict him for treason, and the impose whatever penalty the founders of this country would deem fit for traitors

(Kevin and Miles walking through he hall at school)
Miles: Dude, you ever feel the world is a movie and you’re just a background character?

Kevin: (with a slightly concerned expression) Yikes! Why would you say that?
Miles: Yesterday I had a piece of toilet paper stuck to my shoe.

Miles: And do you know NO ONE even noticed? Not even to make fun of me. It’s like I was invisible.
Kevin: Aw, Miles.

Kevin: (grinning) I DID notice. We ALL did. We just didn’t tell you. Better?
Miles: (Relieved) A little actually.

Every time anybody calls any politically charged event or decision "a distraction" from some other thing, a jack in the box should pop up and punch them in the mouth

1. THE WAY TO MOVE PUBLIC OPINION IS TO ATTRACT ATTENTION

2. THE WAY OT ATTRACT ATTENTION IS TO AMPLIFY GENUINE CONFLICT AND REAL CRISIS

3. THE MILITARY OCCUPATION OF WASHINGTON, D.C. IS A GENUINE CONFLICT AND A REAL CRISIS

Also, release the entire Epstein files. #inners

Several of the invasions in the first post were pre-act of union, and the ulster plantations, the most egregious act of settler colonialism involved were kickstarted by Elizabeth I.
