Worth noting that supportive is not defined in legislation and that coolaid is financially strained, walked back unpaid breaks on their workers recently. It's a both grossly undefined & underfunded industry.
This week on the pod we talked about Pope Leoβs first apostolic exhortation, Dilexi Te.
Some have called the triumph of liberation theology. Itβs more complicated than that, but weβll take the W.

A blue background graphic reads: βDonβt agree with this? Well too bad. Doug Fordβs PCs have been elected to three majority governments even though almost 60% of voters chose another party. When one party can rule with only 40% support, corruption thrives.β Below is a tweet from Colin DβMello describing executives and owners of organizations that received Ford government funding and then donated money back to the PC Party, followed by the caption: βWith proportional representation, no party can win a majority unless they actually earn one. That means accountability and collaboration instead of corruption rubber stamped by a phony majority.β
Doug Fordβs donors give millions. Doug Fordβs friends get millions. All while his party wins βmajoritiesβ with only 40% of the vote.
When power is handed to a minority, accountability disappears.
It is time for proportional representation in Ontario.
No one says a word when land speculators drive up costs to displace low and middle income earners. BC runs on land speculation. But when an Indigenous nation unjustly loses their land & wants to reclaim *some* of it, it's framed as dangerous & destructive.

The white supremacy coming out of One BC is a real problem & I expect the NDP to push back. Instead, they employ language like "real people" to describe one side of a legal dispute, profoundly dehumanizing Indigenous people & Indigenous rights.

Blue graphic with white text reading: βBig-tent parties lead to big-tent infighting. Thatβs the reality of first-past-the-post, which forces the entire BC right into one party for maximum electoral advantage.β Below is an Angus Reid Institute headline: βRustad's rocky road: Half of BC Conservative Party's 2024 voters say they want him to go.β The bottom text reads: βWith proportional representation, the right in BC wouldnβt have to crowd under a single tent to avoid vote-splitting. Different parts of the right-wing spectrum could stand on their own and be represented fairly.β
The turmoil on BCβs right shows how first past the post traps different voices in one party just to stay competitive.
Proportional representation would let every part of the political spectrum stand on its own and be represented fairly.
