I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.

The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.

Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.

Can you take an algorithm to court? And would it be able to (try to) defend itself?

Or is it more likely the owner of said algorithm is tried and has to stump up the defence?

It would difficult to tease out whether this is correlation or causation and I couldn’t see much on this in the article.

Intuitively it feels like causation but it’d be nice to see some proof.

Maybe it’s there and I missed it?

An unbiased algorithm is random selection… which isn’t much use to anyone.

Think it’s not much more complicated than that personally.

Joe Wicks and government join forces to get children moving New animated series for kids, known as Activate, will get more children across the country moving more and encouraging a healthier lifestyle.

Dutch kids get safe cycling routes to school, ours are encouraged to watch cartoon aerobics classes on their phones...

Stephen Bush is brutal on "magical thinking" from net-zero sceptics:

"What [they] seem to envisage is [a world where]…we & the planet agree to put all of this unpleasantness behind us & spend money on neither [cutting emissions nor adapting to warming]"

These are the same local authorities who have no money for libraries, youth clubs or just about anything. But as with the Thames Tunnel, there's always more money to prop up car dependence

Rightwing campaigners claim there is covert deal to return Parthenon marbles Liz Truss reportedly among those who signed letter organised by hard-right group calling for end to talks

β€œThe sculptures were acquired by the British Museum in 1816, but their rightful ownership has been Βdisputed since the 1980s”

I’m sure ownership was disputed long before the 1980s.

Sloppy journalism.

I met the author of this letter this morning on an unrelated local matter. Apparently one complaint triggered this letter; and no due diligence was done to ascertain how serious (or how true) the complainant was being. Staggering incompetence.
