23.08.2025 02:23 — 👍 1 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0Dear Kennedy Pool users, We are writing with more information on the temporary closure of the Ginny Smithers Pool located at the Kennedy School as of today, Tuesday, June 3. Today, City staff discovered that one of the chemicals we use for pool maintenance (muriatic acid) had spilled onto the floor of the maintenance room by the pool area. As a result, the building was temporarily evacuated today by the Somerville Fire Department. The SFD conducted air tests, found no airborne chemical, and cleaned the spill. First responders then determined that the building was safe for students to return to the building. While students and staff were able to return to the building, the pool will remain closed until our pool contractor can address the equipment involved in the spill. Please know that the safety of our program participants remains our top priority. We apologize for this inconvenience, and we will notify you when the pool reopens. Thank you for your understanding, Somerville Parks and Recreation
Did someone put a hex on the Ginny Smithers pool? Pretty sure it’s been closed more than open in 2025 #somerville

If you live in an abortion-restricted state, order your abortion pills now. PlanCPill.org will direct you to a provider who delivers to your state. If you live in Texas, you'll need to go through AidAccess.org. Legal jeopardy is on the provider, not the recipient--for now. So order them now.
