Agreed! I think a lot of teaching (especially in intro courses and classes with a lot of gen ed impact) is essentially helping students see why what you are teaching matters, and that everything is purposeful.

My husband and I and some of our dear friends hosted Japanese high school students this weekend for our town's Friendship City program. We explored the region together! It was lovely, and a great reminder of the importance of these exchange programs.

Yes! As a prof here on Ohio, I am furious! Course evals are deeply problematic already, and this question will absolutely be weaponized against many faculty, especially women and faculty of color.

not to be sentimental but I think it’s beautiful that libraries exist and are free and that we can use them. I love that there are so many bookish folk who are always reading and learning. I’m so glad to live in a world where there are books.

My trip home always feed my soul. Eastern WA is so unutterably beautiful. The home of my heart forever, even though work keeps me from living there.
