that and probably just a general misunderstanding of what it means to have manners. For example, a kid who is vocally stimming might be deemed “rude” by people who don’t know what stimming is. For too long, “manners” has meant “quiet/easily placated.”

Completely agree. This is what I mean by an exposure problem. If you are told your whole life that kids are loud assholes, and you only encounter like two kids, you’ll likely buy that narrative. Exposure to any group we are lied to about (LGBTQ+ people, etc.) breaks down false narratives.

one of my close friends says “I don’t like kids, but I like your kids.” Like any form of discrimination, it’s an exposure problem. For many people, kids are little a**holes with no manners. They need more exposure to a variety of kids, and to remember: they were kids.

I feel you! it’s initially advertised as an organizational tool, like helping you keep exam dates straight 😣 I used to have students bring their syllabi and calendars to class and we’d spend an hour planning things the old-fashioned way. They looked like they held the secret to creating fire!

When smart homes were first created, I said that a virus could attack your home, your locks, your thermostat…everything. Give me stupid homes all day long. My coffee machine has an on and off switch and not even a clock.

I’ve noticed AI ads aimed at students circulate on Hulu during finals time. Very savvy and dangerous.

No one should fall for this. Companies like Epic provide doctors with access to different patient portals. When in doubt, I bring hard copies of my records to doctors’ offices and my medicine bottles. It’s not perfect, but I wouldn’t trust this administration with health data.

The Sound of Metal. I saw it at a time when I was noticing hearing loss, when I was learning about disability justice, and when I was having trouble being by myself without distractions. It was a movie that seemed to find me.

A similar thing happened to my family with them. We drive everywhere, even if it means a long road trip. Only flew because we had an international flight last summer, and my expectations of incompetency were confirmed.

One of my favorite, random memories is meditating & doing tai chi with Gustavo Gutierrez, father of liberation theology. What struck me most about him was his LAUGH. The man had the best sense of humor. In all our political struggles, we must maintain joy—or what is living for?

meanwhile, my local B&N bookstore in a podunk red county is FULL of young people on any given Saturday. It warms my heart to overhear their enthusiasm about books.

Exactly, Remember when Bannon & Trump were besties, then on the outs, and now cozy again? Trump only understands utility to himself. Serving his whims is useless.
