Our kid played HS volleyball in a competitive league. But something had happened at one school, and the program was down to 7 players (no JV). Only one player was skilled, and the rest were still learning how to play. It was ugly, even with our coach pulling the starters and ordering "no spikes."

At first I was like, "oh no, Folks was a lot of fun," but then I read the description, and they meant a different movie called "Folks," not the Roger Moore 1980 adventure-at-sea flick "ffolks."

They can do it on a case-by-case basis subject to the MLBPA's approval, like they did with Field of Dreams and the stupid racetrack game. The players will not agree to anything that adds extra games or reduces off days during the regular season, and the facilities have to meet their standards.

The players unions are generally against them. MLB used to play exhibition games at their minor league affiliates until the MLBPA negotiated an end to those games.

Our middle school had a handful of donated computers. You could use them if you got done with work or as a reward. One of the few programs available was a typing spaceship game, which was our introduction to how to type.

Typewriters obviously sucked, but there was something very satisfying when you got in a groove and furiously typed out a line and then got the brief break while the machine chirped, whirred, and jostled during the auto-return.

Typewriter discourse? In the year 2025?

We had a high school “keyboarding” class that almost everyone took. It was in a double classroom where one room had typewriters and the other room had word processors. You started on typewriters and then switched to computers halfway through the semester.

The "getting the band back together" sequence is always fun but then the rest of the movie is "here's a video journal of hungover Hollywood stars hanging out in Europe."
