This is precisely what polling places were like for part of the 19th century.

People often traveled long distances by horse to vote. It was a big deal when folks got together this way.

This reminds me of voting in Australia. It's fun. It's easy. You see lots of neighbours, buy treats at the school cake stall, and have a democracy sausage (a cheap BBQ sausage in a piece of white bread).

BTW, voting is both ranked choice and COMPULSORY. It's considered an obligation of citizenship.
