Having seen a lot of people are having to skip #GDC this year due to financial reasons (or the recent FAA changes) I'm wondering if it'd make sense to setup a web-based alternative for all those still wanting to meet up?

Truly not the same as actual face-to-face, but maybe better than nothing?

This has me stressing out as well, considering canceling my visit as plane (or boat, but I mean..come on) is the only option from Europe..

An off-site GDC for people on a budget sounds like a pretty great idea actually. Perhaps one for indie devs? Could be a on the web-based event with streams and fun online networking events.
