Has Townsend properly fallen out with Andy Burke and Tom English for saying he should go after the Italy game? No interviews with them since then and they missed the press conference with GT before the Wales game too - “on the train” apparently. Maybe I need to get a life but smells like gossip!

And, IMHO, rugby is worse off for it. I find the box kicks themselves ok (just about), it’s the whole thing of the 9 pop passing to forwards to get into the right field position, then the caterpillar rucks, then the consistent ignoring of the 5 second “use it” rule, all so insufferably dull.

Me too. It haunts me every single time I see 2 players go up for a high ball and especially when one of them crashes heavily to the ground à la Kyle Steyn last weekend. Sends shivers down my spine. I hope no-one believes that sort of behaviour is ever anything other than a card.

I guess, if we had to choose a particular section of the line-up to lose 2 players from, we'd have all gone for back row because we have a decent level of depth there, but by God I hope we can get Dempsey and Ritchie back for France and Ireland. Looking sadly very unlikely.

Great analysis by Barclay on Rugby Special, Jamie Ritchie’s try on the left hand side of the pitch came off 2nd phase ball post line out, and every single England player was in the other half of the pitch (the right hand side looking lengthways) when Ritchie caught the ball. 2nd phase!

I don't remember him exactly ripping it up in the autumn internationals, in fact quite the opposite. But then he certainly wouldn't be the only player in this squad playing much better for club than country...!

Fagerson (M) will feel hard done by but I don't have a problem with Jamie Ritchie starting. No idea what is going on bench-wise though. 5-3 against a 6-2 England bench including 3 BILs? If you didn't need Hastings last week, why include him this week? Townsend has lost the plot.

I used to be George Turner's biggest fan, I loved his crazy runs, he was a bundle of energy and solid in the set piece. That was quite a few years ago though. I can't honestly see how, in what is basically the Glasgow pack, Hiddleston misses out. GT is overweight and a shadow of his former self.

It's the "Golden Generation" thing for me. Where TF did that even come from? No-one outside the press has ever said it! Why do the press make something up then openly scorn the thing they made up and pin it on everyone outside the press? No Scotland fan would ever have said it, they've won nothing!

Jordan wasn't at his best playing out of position but I guarantee Kinghorn wouldn't have stopped that Lynagh try on Saturday either. I love big Blair but he hasn't played well for Scotland for a while and he's not great under the high ball, which we can expect a lot of from England.

The SRU is an utter embarrassment, how can Nucifora do his job part time from Australia? How can Townsend get a second gig but demand 100% commitment from the players? How can Everitt get rewarded for abject failure with 2 more years whilst everyone else in his team gets the boot? What a shambles!

Woodward has become a joke figure, particularly amongst Scotland fans, but it's hard to disagree with him on his views on GT. (I didn't pay to read the Mail, I read it via a paywall killer btw!) I've been a Toonie fan for a long time but even I thought it was time for him to go after the ARG game.
