What is happening at Goddard is absolutely devastating. We are losing history. We are losing an incredible amount of human talent, skill, and knowledge. Rebuilding it will be impossible same for same. Industry can not absorb the people or the equipment. This is undoing space science in the US.

The Trump regime is East Winging the Goddard Space Flight Center, home to the 10,000 scientists and engineers in NASA science and engineering directorates.

Just a note that the (older) Mathematical Geneology project also collects astronomy and physics PhDs, and goes quite far back in time. Many astronomers are only a generation or two from a physicist and a few more from a mathematician. So, useful to explore and contribute to both.
