Around 4-9% of all textiles in Europe are destroyed before they even get the chance to be worn.

With the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, we’re simplifying the process for businesses to reduce this waste ⬇️

New EU rules to stop destruction of unsold clothes and shoes The measures under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation will allow businesses to benefit from a more circular economy.

🔸 Destruction is only allowed under clear exceptions, such as safety reasons
🔸 Easier ways to show how unsold goods are managed

Instead of discarding, businesses are encouraged to:

🔹 Manage stock and returns better
🔹 Prioritise resale, donations, and remanufacturing

(3/3) The EU leads globally in energy and health, ahead of the US, Japan and China.

In 2024, the EU R&D investment is €233.8 billion, with highest rate in the automotive (34.9%), health (19.8%) and ICT Hardware (13.8%) sectors.

In the EU: Germany, France and Sweden invested the most in R&D 🧪

(2/3) Globally, R&D investment reached €1,442.6 billion, with notable growth in the US and in the rest of the world.

However, investment growth in EU companies has significantly slowed: 2.9% in 2024 compared to 9.3% in 2023.
