Since 1950, the number of US billionaires has increased by 18000% (from ~5 to ~900), while there hasn't been an 18000% increase in income for the working and middle classes. Tax changes would avoid the ultra rich outcompeting everyone else for asset ownership (ex. homes) and destroying society.

Trump has no credibility or influence in the conflict, and it shows with his repeated failures to get even a ceasefire implemented. The sooner Europe realizes that they need to develop an independent foreign policy around Ukraine, the sooner Russia will invite them to the negotiating table.

Haven't seen official confirmation yet, but this is great news if so. The campaign still needs to keep pushing for a safety margin, so it's pedal to the metal until they get to 330k.

Unfortunate, but Ukraine knows that X% of sea drones they use will be captured intact, and they've decided that is acceptable. Russia has been capturing drones ever since the first Magura, and that evidently hasn't stopped successful 🇺🇦 attacks. Presumably the actual software is well encrypted.

I'm mildly optimistic given what I've heard from @avilewis.ca about returning the NDP to its roots to fight wealth inequality, rather than getting bogged down in rightwing culture wars. It's very aligned with the "focus on issues that affect everyone" messaging from @garyseconomics.bsky.social

Meteor missiles aren't confirmed in that tweet. I agree that they are an obvious choice to supply to Ukraine with Gripens, but the fear of "escalation" and "technology proliferation" is still widespread in defence circles, so it's quite plausible that Sweden will send Gripens without Meteor.

Transferring Meteor to Ukraine would indeed be big news, but I haven't seen any reporting on this yet. The closest I've found is a Ukrainian military source saying that Gripens will be transferred to Ukraine at some point in the future.

The financial damage of Trump's admin can be reversed, but progressives will need to build a broad coalition of people united around taxes on the very wealthy, and then elect US reps and senators who are committed to this. Learning to talk about the issue from folks like Gary's Economics is key

to other demographics as people get fed up and scared by how unaffordable life is becoming. Only a party adopting a strong position on wealth inequality between the 99% and the 1% (the root cause behind our problems) will be able to offer a compelling alternative to the far-right narrative. 2/2

I wouldn't interpret the reversal in fortunes for the Liberals as a sign of long-term weakness in the Canadian far-right movement. Alberta has been told by billionaires and corporations that the problem is the "other" (other provinces, immigrants, trans people, etc.), and that is spreading 1/2
