Does this target efficiency have the same level of credibility as the "sub $40k" Cybertruck target price?

Great video by @gametheory101.bsky.social that avoids the false & harmful "Putin is done" narrative while highlighting the growing problems in Russia www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gQZ...

The Asset Economy
YouTube video by Garys Economics The Asset Economy

Regular people investing in stocks for their retirement are being out-competed by people who have so much wealth they are incapable of using it other than to accumulate more wealth.

Since 1950, the number of US billionaires has increased by 18000% (from ~5 to ~900), while there hasn't been an 18000% increase in income for the working and middle classes. Tax changes would avoid the ultra rich outcompeting everyone else for asset ownership (ex. homes) and destroying society.

Trump has no credibility or influence in the conflict, and it shows with his repeated failures to get even a ceasefire implemented. The sooner Europe realizes that they need to develop an independent foreign policy around Ukraine, the sooner Russia will invite them to the negotiating table.

Haven't seen official confirmation yet, but this is great news if so. The campaign still needs to keep pushing for a safety margin, so it's pedal to the metal until they get to 330k.

The only reason that JD Vance would boost you to millions of people is because he and Hegseth thought it would be funny to show off the RU tricolour. Since he did, great choice of response!

With First Past The Post a Farage PM would actually be more likely, since Reform just has to get the most votes in a majority of seats, rather than a majority of total votes under a proportional representation system. Reform could poll at 30%, but if the other 70% is split among 4 parties...

Why Labour and Trump will both fail
YouTube video by Garys Economics Why Labour and Trump will both fail

The trouble is when the facts line up with people's feelings, but mainstream politicians dismiss them. Farage offers a convenient, wrong explanation for the fall in living standards (immigrants), but it's better than Labour ignoring it. This result was predicted www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCnI...

Labour presiding over a continued fall in living standards and failing to implement the only thing that can reverse it is punishing them. @garyseconomics.bsky.social predicted their current malaise when they entered government www.youtube.com/watch?v=yROI...

"Sumar, the far-left [party in Spain] are opposed to any moves that could undermine funding for social programs."

The solution is to increase the effectiveness of Spain's wealth tax: Estimates by Julio LΓ³pez Laborda suggest that 80% of the assets of the richest 1% are not subject to the wealth tax.

YouTube video by PoliticsJOE Economist spells out why stopping immigration won't save the economy | Gary Stevenson interview

Exactly right. The middle class and governments have been squeezed by the ultra wealthy accumulating assets, so without addressing that core issue, even banning all immigration won't stop the slide in living standards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhJo...

Why Labour is crushing your living standards
YouTube video by Garys Economics Why Labour is crushing your living standards

The rise in cost of living is not inherent to democracy as a system, but is a result of the tax code in many countries encouraging the accumulation of wealth by a tiny minority. This video shows the situation in the UK which will drive the same outcome as in Czechia www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUKa...

It's not so much people being idiots as mainstream parties worldwide failing to address the not-war reason that life is becoming more expensive. @garyseconomics.bsky.social predicted the disturbing truth that the UK Conservatives would lose, then Labour would come in, then Reform will take over.

Russian Oil Refineries Beyond the Breaking Point as Shortages Spread A major accident at the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery adds to Russian gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel woes.

Really nice writeup and explanation of why this latest campaign is having a bigger impact. This link goes into the details of the results across Russia and assesses that Ukraine doesn't need to hit new refineries, only ones that are already damaged malcontentnews.substack.com/p/russian-oi...

Fraser Valley FC is fine, but Metro Vancouver FC also works if they really want the Vancouver branding.

02.10.2025 22:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Accurate. At least call the club "Metro Vancouver FC" or MV FC if you don't want to advertise the fact that you play out of a suburb. I guess this is another 49ers situation.

As someone who lives much closer to Langley than Vancouver, I'm rather peeved at the false advertising of Vancouver FC.

Surge in Ukrainian oil refinery attacks sparks Russian fuel shortages Ukraine has attacked refineries deep inside Russia, with Zelensky vowing to continue the strikes.

"In my opinion we haven't had a crisis like this since 1993-1994."

Siberia is feeling the pain from Ukraine's refinery strikes, with fuel stations shutting down entirely rather than paying inflated wholesale prices. The situation is normal in Western Russia, for now.

Unfortunate, but Ukraine knows that X% of sea drones they use will be captured intact, and they've decided that is acceptable. Russia has been capturing drones ever since the first Magura, and that evidently hasn't stopped successful πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ attacks. Presumably the actual software is well encrypted.

I'm mildly optimistic given what I've heard from @avilewis.ca about returning the NDP to its roots to fight wealth inequality, rather than getting bogged down in rightwing culture wars. It's very aligned with the "focus on issues that affect everyone" messaging from @garyseconomics.bsky.social

Meteor missiles aren't confirmed in that tweet. I agree that they are an obvious choice to supply to Ukraine with Gripens, but the fear of "escalation" and "technology proliferation" is still widespread in defence circles, so it's quite plausible that Sweden will send Gripens without Meteor.

Transferring Meteor to Ukraine would indeed be big news, but I haven't seen any reporting on this yet. The closest I've found is a Ukrainian military source saying that Gripens will be transferred to Ukraine at some point in the future.

The financial damage of Trump's admin can be reversed, but progressives will need to build a broad coalition of people united around taxes on the very wealthy, and then elect US reps and senators who are committed to this. Learning to talk about the issue from folks like Gary's Economics is key

to other demographics as people get fed up and scared by how unaffordable life is becoming. Only a party adopting a strong position on wealth inequality between the 99% and the 1% (the root cause behind our problems) will be able to offer a compelling alternative to the far-right narrative. 2/2

I wouldn't interpret the reversal in fortunes for the Liberals as a sign of long-term weakness in the Canadian far-right movement. Alberta has been told by billionaires and corporations that the problem is the "other" (other provinces, immigrants, trans people, etc.), and that is spreading 1/2

Oh, absolutely! The best part is that Russia could hardly complain if we (NATO) sent drones to roam around their airspace, because we could say the same denials that they do.

EU moves forward with drone wall The European Commission still has to define the scheme’s technical and financial details.

Fortunately, Ukraine is willing and able to be part of the drone wall, which may be why they were invited to the EU meetings on the concept. Orban and Fico can complain about their Russian oil supply being interrupted while the adults get on with business. www.politico.eu/article/euro...
