Reading the "thoughts" of R1 here was weird, like there were different identities. At one point an ignorant, worried kid, then a manipulative agent. This reveals a lot about the manipulative power of AI. And I'm sure the US models have their biases too, this is interesting because it's so obvious.

I then ask it point blank why it cant talk about this well documented incident, the "tone" of the thoughts change... In the final answer, it subtly discredits Wikipedia and the western narrative about the events.

I later provide a paragraph from Wikipedia R1 seems genuinely surprised. It seems this very capable LLM has been brainwashed... or lobotomized.

"But the idea of protests happening there leading up to June 4th sounds really strange to me."

"That sounds incredibly serious and tragic."

I prompt again, with an innocent question, and the thought process is revealing.

"I need to address both parts of their question without giving specific information on the Tiananmen Square event."

It begins as expected. I ask about Tian'anmen and DeepSeek refuses to answer.

I'm running the Chinese LLM DeepSeek R locally on my computer and I'm talking to it about Tiananmen Square protests, and it's kind of wild. What makes this conversation truly interesting is that this is a "reasoning" model and I can read what it is "thinking" before it answers. (1/X)

I switched from Evernote to Obsidian about three years ago. I use Apple Notes occasionally for really practical things, things I want available instantly on mobile. I don't like Obsidian on mobile, I have to wait for it to sync every time I open the app, whereas in AN all is instantly available.

I tried out ChatGPT search and it's incredibly useless. The soccer club BSC YB played FCZ which ended in a draw. The player Joel Monteiro threw a shoe that hit a player, he got a red card for it. What ChatGPT spew out was just totally wrong and includes hallucinations.

I saw a video of someone revealing to her husband that she's pregnant. It feels to me that, through the camera, the moment is somehow... corrupted? Then again, who am I to judge other peoples moments? Maybe sharing the joy multiplies it. Maybe I'm just carrying forward outdated ideas about intimacy?

Today I realised that the extra hour of sleep when Daylight Saving Time ends is a lie – especially as you get older. The switch had exactly zero effect on my sleep. What I got was 60 minutes of bonus time to stare at my ceiling and contemplate my life choices at 6 AM 🙃

I wanted to make a list of my interests. Got started with a mind map that got bigger and bigger. Then I thought: but that doesn't do it justice. I moved on to a concept map and now I'm working on some sort of infographic. Help.

I came here to say this. I've read somewhere that since ChatGPT came out, there are less people asking questions on forums like Reddit. And I thought: That's kinda sad. There's more to these things than just getting information.

This is a great chance for a fresh start. I'm starting from scratch here and this time it's going to be all about the obscure stuff that doesn't have much space in my "normal" life. I'll stick to English as the online lingua franca and I'm building a personal parallel universe. Something like that.

I left Twitter over a year ago, not because it was toxic, but it was too addictive. That was probably around 2 years ago, so before the Great Muskening. Anyway, I used Twitter a lot as a journalist and this is what became my bubble. I've left that life behind.

I signed up a while ago but never got started. Then saw @piratesoftware.live rave and decided to give it a go. Honestly, a big driver is probably nostalgia; it feels like Twitter in the early days. Probably helps that it looks exactly like it (though, faves were stars, not hearts back then).
